First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Dag Industrees, schrik niet van bovenstaand sjabloon. Aangezien dit volgens mij de eerste keer is dat een afbeelding van jouw hand ter verwijdering is voorgedragen, wil ik je wat extra uitleg geven. De reden voor verwijderen is, zoals je kunt lezen, dat het mij onwaarschijnlijk lijkt dat jij de rechthebbende bent van de afbeelding die te zien is op de albumhoezen. Dat betekent dat je ze niet zomaar kunt uploaden naar Commons. Kort gezegd; de foto is wel door jou gemaakt, maar wat je laat zien is niet door jou gemaakt. Ik weet niet hoe dicht jij bij de band staat? Ken je misschien een van de betrokkenen? Zo ja, dan zou je kunnen vragen of de rechthebbende zelf een plaatje wil uploaden. Maar anders vrees ik dat er geen mogelijkheid is om albumhoezen op Commons en dus de Nederlandstalige Wikipedia te krijgen... Hiro (talk) 01:23, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dag, Industrees. Ik heb Category:Musicians of Bemmel hernoemd naar Category:Musicians from Bemmel, conform bijvoorbeeld Category:Musicians from the Netherlands en Category:Musicians from Berlin. Groet, Eissink (talk) 20:30, 30 January 2021 (UTC).Reply

Dag, Industrees. Zoals ongetwijfeld opgemerkt, heb ik People of Bemmel weer teruggeplaatst in de genoemde categorie. Inderdaad is daar sprake van overcategorisatie, maar om dat te vermijden zou de categorie gesplitst moeten worden in huidige en voormalige gemeenten, waar ik nog geen tijd voor heb gehad en wat ik ook eigenlijk niet van plan was. Het is nog een aardige klus om dat uit te zoeken. Zolang nu echter al die gemeenten bijeen verzameld staan, moet die dubbeling maar op de koop toe worden genomen, dat gebeurt wel vaker en is zeker verdedigbaar. Graag dus de met veel moeite opgebouwde structuur bewaren, zolang er nog geen opsplitsing is. Groet, Eissink (talk) 09:36, 1 March 2021 (UTC).Reply

Dag Eissink, goed dat u het zegt, dan en ik er bij deze van op de hoogte. Ik nam eigenlijk gewoon aan dat Bemmel nog niet was bijgewerkt na de fusie met de andere voormalige gemeenten Huissen en Gendt tot Lingewaard. Groet, Industrees (15:53, 1 March 2021)
