What have you done? edit

Why are there no contributions, no user page, nothing, for this user? History only shows " 07:58, 11 March 2015‎ Wikimedia Commons Welcome talk contribs‎ m 229 bytes +229‎ ". Have you erased everything else? If so, why? Why is there nothing here...? Is this a real user? Best Regards, from Jan --Janwikifoto (talk) 19:54, 1 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi Jan! Your curiosity was unexpected, but I understand that it comes from my earlier comment about copyright notice.
Although the different Wikimedia sites have a central login now, there is no central user page. I created one here now, I didn't think anyone to be interested earlier. In my opinion and experience, discussions should focus on topic rather than person.
I'll leave judgement of "real user" to others, but the account was created and maintained by a living person. The history of this talk page seems accurate, but is hardly relevant. Anyone looking for a current list of my contributions to Commons should instead look at a link like this. It may not be extensive, but doesn't look empty to me. I've thought about it for "several days" now and I'm writing only to close this misled discussion. I would have hoped that Jan read my initial suggestion instead of coming here to question my intentions and my account. Note that I just asked for more clear copyright notes, I never (so far) questioned his rights or asked for any file removal.
In my world, Wikipedia is built by all volunteers together. There is of course no reason to ask for a law degree and office-visits. Though some credentials may be positive, anyone is welcome to engage with good intentions. I'd question any assumption that the work of the many not taking payment from WMSE should be brushed off as less valuable or "vandalism". Better would be for those very engaged to make sure their copyright claims are clear for everyone and respect the need for references to be easily checked.
