Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on .

Source portrait of Sebastian I of Portugal by Sanches CoelhoEdit
Hi! I'm currently writing an article about the portraits of Sebastian I and I haven't been able to find the source of this portrait in which he appears as a child. Could you add the source from which you took it, if you know in which museum can be found right now? I would be very grateful. —Preceding unsigned comment was added by 18.104.22.168 (talk) 19:19, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
I saw you reverted my edit @ the image of Lilian Helder. This picture is taken from a YouTube stream, that is actually already a copyright violation. The YouTube-channel consist of "collected material" and the uploader does not have any rights on this material, to my idea. They are the collector, not the creative content creator. Therefor we can not accept images taken from these video's, to my idea. Edoderoo (talk) 11:28, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
- The file has been nominated again, for the same reason, so I do not stand alone in my opinion that the license should come from the original source, and not from the suggested YouTube-source. Edoderoo (talk) 06:54, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
Images of Counts of HollandEdit
I would like to know why you reverted my edition. Aren't the files showing medieval miniatures? The author is from 15th century, so he's still medieval. We agree in that point, right? I think a drawing isn't such as elaborate as this images show. In my opinion they look like a medieval miniature, more than a drawing. From my point of view, these are medieval drawings:
- I disagree. A miniature is a small illustration used to decorate an illuminated manuscript. This is not the case. The drawing is not small, it extends to the entire page. Secondly, these drawings are not intended as a decoration, but are part of the logbook. Lastly, this is not an illuminated manuscript. Hence my revertion. Mvg, Mdd (talk) 11:45, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Hallo Jan Arkesteijn de filenaam is nogal verwarrend, denk je dat File:Portrait of Hendrik Constantijn Cras by Lambertus Antonius Claessens (after a painting by Adriaan de Lelie).jpg beter geschikt is of maakt dit de filenaam te lang? Lotje (talk) 05:57, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
