Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Raderingsnomineringar

När du nominerar filer för radering som du gjorde här, se då till att följa instruktionerna på Commons:Deletion requests/listing a request manually. I det här fallet missade du att märka upp filen med {{Delete}}, lägga till nomineringen i listan över nomineringar för den aktuella dagen samt meddela den som laddat upp filen med {{subst:idw}}. Snabbraderingsmärkningen som du lade till i samma veva har tagits bort. Hej. Tack för info och hjälp med att få det hela rätt. Det är ett ganska krångligt förfarande, men nu har jag lärt mig något nytt. Jag antar dock att jag inte kommer att ha anledning att ifrågasätta material på Commons så ofta. Vad gäller just denna fråga har jag dock mycket svårt att se hur man med fog kan hävda att loggan inte "uppnår verkshöjd". Men det lär väl visa sig... I verktygslådan till vänster finns en länk för att nominera en fil för radering. Använder man den ska man bara behöva skriva in anledningen till nomineringen en gång, och sedan sköts resten av sig självt. Annars är lättaste sättet att börja med {{Delete}}-mallen på sidan och följa instruktionerna i den. Det kan vara bra att veta, för det laddas faktiskt upp en hel del saker som inte borde laddas upp.

När det gäller verkshöjd ska man komma ihåg att Sverige har lagt ribban relativt högt. SL:s logotyp består av två en cirkel, två halvcirklar och två bokstäver i ett ordinärt sans-serif-typsnitt. Den är jämförelsevis betydligt mindre komplex än File:Upphovsrätt på teknisk ritning.png, som HD funnit inte uppnår verkshöjd. —LX (talk, contribs) 14:17, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
