POV editing edit

This is a friendly message to ask you to respect the resolution here: Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/User_problems/Archive_17#Stop_the_war. I made you aware of this on my talk page, but it appears you did not read or understand it. Commons is not a place of war, please try to distance yourself from POV editing. If you and another editor have a sourced disagreement on a description, cut out the claims that either of you disagree with, and try that as a more neutral version. For example, you appear to be in dispute about whether some buildings are "war ruined" or "destroyed". If there is legitimate disagreement over whether it was a consequence of war, the term "war" should be left out (and then the remaining terms "ruined" and "destroyed" are basically synonymous, so there is no further argument). Have a nice day. --99of9 (talk) 05:02, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked for a duration of 3 days edit

You have been blocked from editing Commons for a duration of 3 days for the following reason: Since you have returned to this kind of POV-war behaviour I warned you about just above, I am blocking you for three days on the grounds of (slow) edit-warring. Examples: [1][2] Please read over the agreement I linked above. 99of9 (talk) 04:44, 23 October 2011 (UTC).Reply

If you wish to make useful contributions, you may do so after the block expires. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may add {{unblock|(enter your reason here) ~~~~}} below this message explaining clearly why you should be unblocked. See also the block log. For more information, see Appealing a block.

If I am being blocked, why is SupremeD not being blocked for precisely the same conduct, namely reverting to his version. Second, by blocking me, are you siding with him? And again, if that's not the case, why block just one party to the dispute? Third, this is the first time that I've been sanctioned on Commons whereas SupremeD is no stranger to sanctions. Don't you think that a one week block is a bit harsh?--Jiujitsuguy (talk) 05:48, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Have you read the agreement I linked to above yet? As far as I am aware, SD has not violated it recently. If you believe he has, you are welcome to post a diff for me to evaluate. No, I am not siding with him, in fact he has been blocked in the past for similar behaviour. Your block is a 3 day block. His first was for one week. Would you like me to extend yours to ensure that it is fair? --99of9 (talk) 06:14, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

National parks edit

In regards to your email, Category:National parks of Israel already exists. Rather than tagging every file with that, it would be more productive and less controversial if you made a subcat Category:National parks in the Golan Heights (which can also be a subcat of the Syrian equivalent), or indeed a subcat for the specific park you want to put a file in. For example, File:מפל הבניאס.JPG was already in Category:Banias waterfall, which is in Category:Waterfalls in the Golan Heights, which is in Category:Waterfalls in Israel, so [3] was useless as well as contoversial. (P.S. You can reply here, I have watchlisted your talk page.) --99of9 (talk) 04:05, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

The Banias Falls are part of the Banias National Park which is a national park of Israel. See[4] and note the top photo on the web page. Israel created the park, created the various park trails, uncovered archaeological finds at the park (dating back to the Second Temple era), constructed facilities at the park and otherwise maintains the park in all respects. I'll leave it as Banias Falls pursuant to Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/User_problems/Archive_17#Stop_the_war but I would like to create a category that identifies it as a national park of Israel per[5]. This would be entirely accurate and verifiable and not inconsistent with previously enumerated parameters. Having explained my position in terms of both sourcing and previously established parameters, if I added this category for this specific file, will I be blocked again?--Jiujitsuguy (talk) 05:07, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Please also note that I refer to it as a national park of Israel rather than in so as to avoid the touchy issue of sovereignty.--Jiujitsuguy (talk) 05:11, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Adding Category:National parks of Israel to any of those files would violate COM:CAT. They are already in the very specific Category:Banias waterfall which should be a subcategory of anything you're talking about. I've just done what needs to be done to satisfy your issue: [6][7]. Now none of the files need to be directly tagged with either "Israel" or "Syria". Commons just sidesteps the war, it's simple, and helps everyone get along, and create what we're trying to create together. For your next question, as a learning exercise for both of you, I suggest you ask User:Supreme Deliciousness, and see if you can find solutions that you both agree on. --99of9 (talk) 12:17, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you 99of9 for the clarification. I'll chalk this one up as a learning experience. As for your latter suggestion of engaging Supreme Deliciousness in dialogue, I respectfully must decline for the following reason.
Since he started editing on Wikipedia, SupremeD has exhibited a visceral dislike (actually hatred) for Israel in general and those of the Jewish faith in particular. These are just a few of the gems he’s responsible for, referring to Jews and Israelis as thieves. [8][9][10] He never apologized for making those abhorrent statements despite ample opportunity to do so. He’s made even more odious comments while editing under various IPs and other accounts but, embarrassed by their content, yells “outing” anytime anyone finds and makes note of them.
When he was topic banned from the Israel-Arab topic area, he edited on the fringes arguing that Hitler was Jewish[11] That Jews were involved in the slave trade[12] And alluding to the absurd claim that 9-11 was some vast conspiracy.[13][14]
It is pointless to have a discussion with a person possessing such deep-seated hatred and I will not sully these or any other pages by giving him a platform to spew forth such profoundly shocking views. Frankly, I find it amusing that he of all people got me blocked. Oh well,--Jiujitsuguy (talk) 15:59, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ok good - Commons has many intricacies to learn, it's understandable to make a few mis-steps. I also understand your reticence to engage with SD, but continue to hope that you will both overcome this in future. It would certainly result in many less conflicts and blocks. (Out of curiosity, are you claiming that Hitler had 0 ancestors who were [ethnically] Jewish? Or that 0 Jews were involved in the slave trade? Although I'm not particularly familiar with either topic, that would surprise me greatly. I'm not saying that either should be in an encyclopedia, but it strikes me that your total denial is a little over the top [note that he didn't claim "Hitler was Jewish"].) --99of9 (talk) 03:27, 25 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'm not familiar with Hitler's family tree (nor do I care to be) and I'm sure that there were Jews who were involved in the slave trade as I'm sure there were Catholics, Muslims and agnostics who were involved. But that's really not the point. This particular "editor" is singularly focused, nay obsessed, with Israel and Jews and this is unhealthy for Wikipedia and Wikimedia (it is likely unhealthy for him as well). If I was a bit snippy in my initial response concerning the block, I apologize. You're a volunteer like the rest of us well-intentioned folk and try to make do with what you have and I think you've done a pretty decent job. I also commend you for being very patient with me and my queries. But as for Supreme Deliciousness, I have little patience for those who are intolerant. Best,--Jiujitsuguy (talk) 04:10, 25 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Jerusalem photo edit

Hello Olevy, can you please translate your caption for [this picture] in English? I tried Google translate but I'd like to get a more precise answer from you since it's your caption. You can post your answer on my Talk page. Thanks--Jiujitsuguy (talk) 22:53, 9 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
