Hello, Leiju!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Curious about one of your photos edit

Hi Leiju. Saw this photo of yours and now I am curious about these llamas. What are they doing in Switzerland? Are they used commercially or are they just because they look cute? Thanks. --Rui Gabriel Correia (talk) 04:45, 13 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

About how to reply edit

Hi Julia. Thanks for taking the trouble for such a detailed reply. And really very informative. Really appreciated. To reply here on the Wikipedia, you do it by clicking on the person's "Discussion" or "Talk" page (both terms are used). In the message that I left you, you will see "(talk)" in brackets after my name. You just click on that. Once you are on aser's talk page, click on "Add topic" to start a new discussion, or "edit" to carry on below an already ongoing discussion. On any page you will find the "talk" tab in a row that looks like this, Leiju (talk | block log | uploads | logs | filter log). To create you talk page on the Wikipedia, same thing, just go to "talk", it will say "Creating User talk:Leiju", save. Then you can write something by clicking on "New section" (same as "add topic", just different wording. I love Switzerland, especially Geneva, in fact my wife and I were reminescing about it last night - our two-week visit, our favourite restaurant, the swans, Cornavin, such beautiful memories ...... Keep well,

Wiki Science Competition 2021 in Switzerland edit

Logo for Wiki Science Competition

Dear uploader of Wiki Loves Earth in Switzerland and Wiki Loves Monuments in Switzerland, we would like to remind you that Wiki Science Competition 2021 has started in the whole world. It is now open in your country until December, 15th.

If you want to take part in WSC2021, please consult this page. There are different categories that can be used (you might therefore have something already interesting in your archive). Prizes can be allocated for the 1st and 2nd positions in every category.

If you are an expert user, we remind you that the images uploaded within the deadline can be included in any case in their national category even if not uploaded with the main interface by simply adding the national category.

If you take part, please consider improving the description in English of your files, since such description is what the international jury will use to evaluate them at the following step. World finalists will be finalized after March 2022.

Sorry for bothering you and have a nice wiki.
