Removal of categories you think are superfluous edit

You might want to read the Commons policy on this. Unless something changed, we're supposed to include all categories that the category should fall within, not merely the ones that it falls under with respect to the images within the category. - Bossanoven (talk) 01:40, 28 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

I don't see any reason to include a player within a team-specific category if we have no pictures of the player with that specific team. Lepricavark (talk) 02:15, 28 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

We're supposed to, though. That is the policy. What if future images include other teams? - Bossanoven (talk) 17:30, 28 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

It seems to me that someone can add the categories when they become relevant. Lepricavark (talk) 17:32, 28 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Colours edit

Hi, first, thank you for noticing me about the revert. I really appreciate you took the time to write me about it. I didn't notice I broke the code. I added "gold" because, in the list, it's just "gold (color)" and it can't be used to decribe objects that are made OF gold. I saw there were "green" and "green (color)" (I dunno why) and I tried to copy and paste how it was done. Have a nice day. --Birdie (talk) 08:23, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

That makes sense. If I knew more about how code works, I'd try to figure it out. But sadly, that's not a part of my skillset. Lepricavark (talk) 15:05, 9 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Red category edit

Hello Lepricavark, Category:1980s red convertibles is not in existence. --Buch-t (talk) 07:46, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
