Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:59, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Reichsadler: Left of Right
editThis is the first time I have used the Wikimedia commons user discussion page. I wish to inquire about the image you uploaded, Reichsadler.svg (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Reichsadler.svg) with the comment:
"Eagle looking to left signifies the Nazi party, to the right it signifies the German Reich"
I have been inquiring this issue of 'eagle faces left or right' for some time, and even the historians I've talked with are at a loss. The general reply I receive, is a basic matter of preference. To me, preference is an inadequate rationale. I am quite pleased to have read your comment as being so definite, and I am interested in learning about which way the eagle should face.
Please site a source, or open a discussion, or something, for when the eagle faces left or right, and what it means exactly to NSDAP vs. German Reich in regards to the eagle's direction. This is an important detail of historical accuracy that I want to share with others.

Article 4 of Act of 15 September 1935? Does anyone have a link to a reliable source of the text?
