Lecce

Hello,

I know WP pictures management is complex enough!

On WP:fr, from Commons, we had the coat of arms of Lecce (an Italian town)(filename on Commons: Image:Lecce-Stemma.png). This picture has been deleted. Certainly with a good reason. But...

Generally all the coats of arms of the Italian cities have an authorization (see authorization here.

Responding to your question about the Lecce COA from Commons: Unfortunately, I do not speak Italian, so I am not able to analyze the authorization. However, even the Italian Wikipedia does not claim free license for this picture (only fair use / EDP), and I have no reason for doubts about that.

So, if you think the Italian COAs are free, just convince the Italian Wikipedia about that, and have the license template changed. After that, there would be no reason not to transfer them to Commons.

Category:Viana Volcano

Hi Mormegil, thanks for deleting Category:Viana Volcano. I was wondering if you could also delete Category:Monte Grande, Category:Morrhino de Açucar, Category:Pico Santo António and Category:Monte Estância, as I requested in the deletion discussion, providen that I move the files in those categories up in the category tree, as I also said in the deletion page. Upload forms

Zdravím. Myslím, že je třeba někam do nového formuláře pro nahrávání souborů, třeba k nápovědě MediaWiki:UploadFormQuickHelp/cs, přidat přímý odkaz na "bacis form" + stručnou informaci o tom, že nový formulář je v osobním nastavení vyřadit. (V anglické verzi už to takto ošetřené mají, a pokud člověk nenahrává jeden či dva obrázky, ale větší množství, tak to by přes nový formulář byla opravdu odrazující práce.) A chceme-li být v něčem před anglickými formuláři napřed, bylo by užitečné také opačně, aby ten, kdo si "basic form" v nastavení zvolí jako základní, měl možnost jedním kliknutím z "basic form" se dostat na nový formulář (pokud výjimečně nahrává jednotlivý obrázek). Zkus se na to podívat, na mě je to moc složité :-) --ŠJů 20:21, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Jedním směrem jsem to udělal, opačně to, obávám se, příliš nepůjde – pokud si někdo udělátkem vypne ten vylepšený formulář, tak je prostě vypnutý a žádným odkazem se jen tak zapnout nedá. Uvítání nováčka a reklama na Flickr

Tomu se říká pěkné uvítání nováčka na Commons. Zvláště, když jej na cs.wiki Chmee2 uklidňuje, že postačí, když bude obrázek jen na Commons. Nějak k tomu nemohu dohledat hlasování o smazání, pokud tedy vůbec nějaké bylo.

Také mě ale zaujala ta reklama na Flickr v šabloně tím, že se tu takto prapaguje jedna z celé řady soukromých komerčních služeb podobného charakteru.

Jinak myslíš, že když přeložím Pokud zapomenu u jakéholiv souboru, kterého jsem autorem, vyplnit licenci a nedoplním ji do týdne po upozornění, berte to jako kdybych byl soubor uvolnil pod cc-by-3.0. na své uživatelské stránce do angličtiny, že by to tu správci při případném "nolicence" akceptovali? --Dezidor (talk) 09:56, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Žádné hlasování o tomto konkrétním obrázku nebylo. Viz např. ono odkazované Category:Penis self-pictures. Tu šablonu a její text jsem já nepsal.

Moc nerozumím, co je na tom k "akceptování". Nikomu to jistě vadit nebude, ale rozhodně bych se nespoléhal, že se bude správce před mazáním obrázku bez uvedené licence snažit takovou informaci dohledávat na uživatelské stránce, takže si nemyslím, že by to něčemu pomohlo. To je opravdu takový problém při uploadu z toho comboboxu tu licenci vybrat? Řekl bych, že mě nahrávání obrázků na Commons komplikují úplně jiné věci (třeba kategorizace).

Celá ta filosofie. že něčeho je tu něčeho dostatek, je chybná. Nikdy nelze předem odhadnout všechny eventuality použití (i mimo projekty WMF) a co se zrovna komu bude hodit. Šlo by to řešit tím, že "výstavní kousky" se dají do článku s galerií a zbytek do kategorie. Tady jde o případy, kdy na to omylem zapomenu (již prákrát se mi to stalo) a pak hrozí riziko, že bych to nestačil v uvedené lhůtě doplnit. Šlo mi o to: 1. Jestli správci třeba uživatelské stránky při mazání kvůli možnosti takovéhoto prohlášení běžně kontrolují či nikoliv. 2. V případě, že kontrolují či by to náhodou mazač uviděl, zda by to brali jako licenci k fotce, kde není díky opomenutí přímo vyplněna, nebo by takovou fotku stejně smazali. --Dezidor (talk) 12:15, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

IMHO 1. běžně nekontrolují, 2. pokud by si ji však náhodou/velkou pečlivostí prohlédl a oznámení viděl, pak věřím, že by to vzal jako platné prohlášení a nemazal (tedy: já bych to tak bral a k tomu obrázku bych odpovídající licenci doplnil (jenže zase bych se na tu uživatelskou stránku nedíval), těžko si mohu být jist, jak by se zachovali jiní). Ale to vše za předpokladu, že je z obrázku zřejmé, že uživatel, který ho načetl, je také jeho autorem - tedy že tam napsal "je to moje dílo", ale už zapomněl napsat i licenci, což AFAICT není zase tak častá kombinace. --Mormegil (talk) 12:22, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Objekt ano, ale definice toho vzoru i s odkazem na ten obrázek tam zůstala. Skoro určitě by pomohlo po smazání toho objektu dát vyčistit nepoužívané definice (jestli tedy používáš Inkscape). --Mormegil (talk) 11:13, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I am not sure about that, it is quite a complicated situation. IMHO PD-CzechGov does not cover those, since it applies only to “strictly governmental” works like laws. Dotaz

Zjistil jsem, že tu existuje Flickrreview, chtěl bych se proto zeptat, zda existuje něco podobného i pro obrázky z jiných zdrojů. Velmi často se totiž stává, že někdo nahraje obrázek, který je někde uvolněn pod svobodnou licencí, ale pak originální stránky zmizí, nejsou ani ve web.archivu a v případě návrhu na smazání se nehrávávající nemá jak bránit. --Dezidor (talk) 14:46, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Nevím o tom; jistě by se nějaký (polo)automatický proces archivace zdrojových stránek nějak dal vymyslet, ale nevím o tom, že by něco takového už existovalo. I tady je COM:OTRS. Až ti přijde ten e-mail, přepošli ho (nejlépe asi se stručným anglickým úvodem, ať v případě nejasností kontaktují tebe, Zirlanda (který by snad měl mít přístup na Commons OTRS) nebo třeba klidně mě) na permissions-commonswikimedia.org a do obrázku přidej {{OTRS pending}}. Your insight into Czech Wikipedia needed

Hi! Could you please check this out, please? File:Mendel´s statue.JPG was uploaded here as own work by a Czech user called Coeli, while File:Mendel´s statue.jpg was transferred from Czech Wikipedia. According to the excerpt of the upload-log the uploader there was a user called Zarco. Was there some information not transferred, or is this the same person with just a different name on Commons, or is one of them a uploader of copyvio. -- Cecil (talk) 02:20, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

The original uploader, cs:User:Zarco writes on his talkpage about his visit to Madeira. User:Coeli uploads images from Madeira, and signs them zarco. Altogether, I tend to believe it is the same person, only using a different username on Commons. --Mormegil (talk) 10:30, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Re: highlighting the user's language

Re this message of yours: we have already two ways of doing this:

• {{LangSwitch}}.
• MediaWiki:Common.js/LangSelect.js (included in Common.js) and used at Commons:Administrators' noticeboard.

And then there's the related MyLangNotify gadget. Do we really need another special-purpose JS in Common.js? Can't Template:Picture of the day be setup such that it uses one of the two existing methods? (I don't care which.) Lupo 15:25, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

You are right, we should try to use existing general solutions, not create many small unmaintained pieces of JS… LangSelect is similar to what is done here, but still… it is ugly and huge – drawing attention to the least important item in the template… Picture of the day does not need such a complicated and big solution…

But, as I came to think of it, I realized that we already have what is really needed… So that I went and changed Template:Picture of the day to use Template:Hidden and everything seems fine!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Pokud nevíš, které ořezy jsi nedávno dělal, může ti pomoci seznam tvých příspěvků (a pokud to ani z něj nepoznáš, možná pak pochopíš, proč by bylo dobré do popisků psát, co jsi s obrázky dělal, místo nicneříkajících výkřiků typu „VERY needet file“ či „byl to zkurvenej komouš ale taky i člověk :-)“). A chceš snad říct, že jsi je (či některé z nich) ořezával bezeztrátově? Pokud myslíš tohle, tak to je TAKOVÁ hovadina, že na to, abych to smetl ze stolu nepotřebuji "mandát administrátora" - na to stačí selský rozum. Víš co, nějakej trouba je schopnej to smazat, jen proto, že jinej trouba, kterej ani nemá na commons účet, neumí číst... a na to je kvalitních souborů od BA škoda. O „zavádění byrokracie“ se laskavě nestarej, ta „byrokracie“ tady byla už před tvým příchodem a bude tu i po tvém odchodu. Správce má na uzavírání jasný proces, s kterým mu pomáhají javascriptové pomůcky, kdy na pár kliknutí zajistí uzavření hlasování a odstranění informační šablony. Když šablonu někdo odstraní dřív, přidělává mu práci, protože místo javascriptové automatiky to musí ručně řešit a zjišťovat, co se vlastně stalo. Umístění šablony u souboru neznamená, že bude smazán, prostě informuje o existenci té diskuse. --Mormegil (talk) 08:02, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Would you like to have a photo of somebody else who has the same name as yours to be attributed and represented you?! It was fine when you did not know it was not general Hieu's photo. I do not claim the pictures are of general Hieu, ARVN. But you are removing Category:Men, Category:People by alphabet, and Category:People of Vietnam by alphabet. And those are correct. The photos depict a man, a human, and a human from Vietnam.

According to the German Bundesarchive, they depict “das Mitglied des Präsidiums des ZK der Nationalen Befreiungsfront Südvietnams Nguyen Van Hieu”, i.e. Nguyen Van Hieu, a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam.

Aircraft by registration

Hey Mormegil, I saw that you set up Category:N-381BA (aircraft) and Category:N-365BA (aircraft) using dashes in the registration number. U.S. aircraft don't use dashes between nation letter and unique reg number, as seen at http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Aircraft_by_registration&from=N#toc.
