File:Flag of Meiwa, Gunma.svg

edit

Please don’t revert without reason. I uploaded a new version for accuracy. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 09:23, 27 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I will keep reverting. What evidence do you have that this is an inaccurate version? I've just digitized the previous file, a jpg that was apparently sourced from the town's website: File:Flag of Meiwa Gunma.JPG Shorepine (talk) 22:01, 27 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Go ask the Meiwa town office and they will tell you about the accurate version. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 18:13, 28 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Mike Rohsopht will also tell you about the flag. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 18:22, 28 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

thank you for this source. i was excited to learn about meiwa's ambitious plans for a horizontal transportation access and, with deep gratitude, of nihon canpack's construction of the wando industrial park. on the subject of the flag, unfortunately for me, it has little to say. it is visual evidence of a different version being used currently however, so congratulations to @SpinnerLaserzthe2nd on sourcing that. it would have been helpful to provide _when making the initial edit_. if you have a source that discusses the specifications for the flag specifically, i would love to see it. Mike Rohsopht has some advice in regards for making flags of municipalities of Japan and I am going to quote him:
1.You may use the script User:Sreejithk2000/JustReplace.js to replace raster images with vector images. Just copy/paste importScript('User:Sreejithk2000/JustReplace.js'); to Special:MyPage/common.js.
2. The proportion of most flag images uploaded by Mti are inaccurate. Usually each flag has a proportion of 2:3 and the height of the emblem is 60% or 70% of the flag width. You can measure them from actual images of the flags.
e.g.:
豊後大野市
長洲町
大刀洗町
登米市
小川村
If you had any questions, ask Mike SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 03:51, 29 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
thanks for the suggestion about the script. i don't know what to say about mike rosopht's critique of mti's work, without evidence. 'usually' doesn't mean 'in every case'. some japanese municipal flags seem to deviate quite a bit from the standard model. mti's description of their original jpg stated that the flag was adopted in 1965年12月24日制定. the town may have standardized its approach since then or just increased the range of acceptable variance for the flag. the image of the flag posted on the town website, for example, uses a slightly different version of the town emblem than that in mike rosopht's example or mti's digitalization. i would note also that the evidence rosopht provided isn't conclusive. its not an image of a flag or a statutory specification of the flag. its an image on a tv screen. those might be standardized for obvious reasons, in a way actual flags are not. relatedly color values can be difficult to sample from photographs. the photo in rosopht's evidence looks overexposed. the color value of the image of the flag on the town website is a bit different than the one you have reproduced. its a bit darker and more in the azure range, if you sample its values. if you're convinced the version you've made is the current one preferred by town officials, you might want to sample those values. i'll leave it to you. The map of states that recognize Palestine

edit

Hello Shorepine , I am from Mexico and I am certain that Mexico officially have not recognize the State of Palestine, Mexico's equivalent of the State department, have not upgraded its mission in Palestine as an Embassy, Mexico stills names its representative in Palestine as a Representative Office in Palestine. The Foreign Minister and the senate have not taken any steps to fully recognize the Palestinian State. There must be a vote in the senate of Mexico to finally recognize the state and submit ambassadors and diplomats, that have not happen yet. So if you can remove Mexico from the countries that recognize Palestine that will be accurate. Thanks and wish you the best. Tanqueraul (talk) 19:51, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

thanks for contacting me. the article the map illustrates lists its source as: https://documents.un.org/doc/undoc/gen/n24/097/67/pdf/n2409767.pdf

Hi Shorepine. Your sources have wrong information. Mexico does not recognise Palestine as a sovereign State.
I hope you can understand Spanish, because mine are from official Mexican media outlets:
Today, May 24 (2024), the current President of Mexico has declared that his government is still considering (via the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs) if Mexico should officially recognise Palestine as an independent and sovereign state (or not). Here are the sources (as I said, in Spanish, his own words):
- https://www.informador.mx/mexico/AMLO-Cuestionan-al-Presidente-sobre-reconocer-como-Estado-a-Palestina-esto-respondio-20240524-0097.html
- https://www.milenio.com/politica/sre-analiza-si-reconoce-a-palestina-como-estado-dice-amlo
- https://www.jornada.com.mx/noticia/2024/05/24/politica/proximamente-mexico-dara-a-conocer-si-reconoce-o-no-a-palestina-amlo-2585
- https://vanguardia.com.mx/noticias/nacional/tras-el-anuncio-de-espana-noruega-e-irlanda-amlo-prefiere-esperar-para-reconocer-a-palestina-como-estado-KF12069636
Here is the extract of today's conference when he addressed the issued: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxRsJ_K7mF8
As you mentioned, the State of Palestine has an embassy in Mexico City, but this was a unilateral move from Ramallah (considered as such by the current Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs last year). Again, the source in Spanish (where the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Affairs also states that MEXICO DOES NOT RECOGNISE THE STATE OF PALESTINE even if both countries have good diplomatic relationships):
Many people have wrongly thought that the reclassification was an automatic recognition. That is a big mistake that even HoyPalestine X account has repeated. Spain also experienced that reclassification in 2010 (and that wasn't unilateral at all, the Spanish government supported it), but Spain will probably recognise Palestine as a sovereign state until the next week (14 years later). Here is the official statement from the Spanish government (the Mexican government did not do the same):
https://www.exteriores.gob.es/es/Comunicacion/NotasPrensa/Paginas/Articulos/Comunicado195.aspx
And actually, there aren't any official declaration or document from the Mexican government that states Mexico officially recognises Palestine as an independent and sovereign state.
About the UN document you are referring, the document is no longer available.
Perhaps the document is this one: https://documents.un.org/doc/undoc/gen/n24/097/67/pdf/n2409767.pdf?token=BqmoF48oF2Ng88ZT8Z&fe=true.
That document was elaborated by the Chairs of the Arab Group, the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Group and the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) at the United Nations in New York. Mexico is not a member of those groups. We can't be sure if Mexico checked and approved that document. The only thing that happened on June 2, 2023 was the reclassification of the embassy in Mexico City, but as I said before, the Mexican government declared that as a 'unilateral act from Palestine' (showing a somewhat indifferent support to it).

If Mexico has 'recognised Palestine as a State since June 2023', why the current President forgot to mention that today? Aleqc (talk) 00:10, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

thank you for these sources. i'll correct the map and the wiki article it is based on. Shorepine (talk) 10:36, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Slovenia

edit

Slovenia wants to recognize Palestine too (i think even for weeks now) "During the Israel–Hamas war, Prime Minister Robert Golob announced that his government will recognize the State of Palestine by 13 June 2024, expecting that this will help put pressure on both sides of the conflict to reach an agreement.[330][331]" Braganza (talk) 10:54, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

thank you. i've edited the map to reflect that. Shorepine (talk) 12:01, 27 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Norway

The same for Ireland: recognition is effective from May 28th (see: here). --Holapaco77 (talk) 09:41, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
thank you for the reference. it seems the original map has been substituted back in now and is being edited more proactively. Shorepine (talk) 17:19, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
