well there is no base map, i made the map using the pdf in the source, which is an ottoman government issued administrative yearbook containing all first, second, and third level administrative divisions Userd898 (talk) 11:32, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

no it is not that one, it's the 1875 general salname issued by the ottoman government, it lists all kazas (3rd level districts), and which sanjaks they are in, and what vilayets these sanjaks are in, thus it makes it possible to recreate the entirity of the internal borders since the kazas are just cities/towns. moreover external borders are backed up by either already agreed upon maps online, historical treaties, or historical other historical sources. I suggest creating a new color category labeled "uncertain influence."

If you look into other empires/kingdoms, they typically do not showcase territories they once claimed, so it's better to remove it because it's unnecessary. Therefore, you have two choices: either fix the map and add a new color called 'uncertain influence' or just altogether remove all colors from Somalia since there were already other Somali kingdoms that ruled those areas, and it is certain, unlike the Omani 'claims.'" Moldavia and Wallachia as vilayets

Hi, in File:Ottomans 1875.png you included Moldavia and Wallachia as vilayets. Vilayet was a formal province in Ottoman administration. For both to have been provinces they would have needed to be annexed into the Ottoman Empire, but they were states of their own under vassalage. Furthermore, Wallachia was never divided into any "Lesser Wallachia Sanjak" and "Greater Wallachia Sanjak". And there's also the fact that Moldavia and Wallachia did not exist anymore in 1875, as they had united into the Principality of Romania in 1859. Do you think you could fix this? Thank you. they were formal provinces from the ottoman prespective, the map colours them as their own country, but the administrative division is an ottoman one, it goes by ottoman government's listing at the time rather than ground reality Userd898 (talk) 01:11, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

"they were formal provinces from the ottoman prespective" that is not true, if such was the case they would have been annexed, however they always remained with their own governments and institutions, tax systems, armies, and Muslims were for centuries, perhaps still at the time, not allowed to settle. Do you have any source for this claim that the Ottoman government considered Wallachia and Moldavia "vilayets"? Also, I noticed that in the File:Rabih_Azzubair_Dominions.png, you accidentally wrote that he was born in the early 18th century. As he lived and especially had his greatest successes in the 19th century, I guess you accidentally got the wrong number there. Ermanarich (talk) 22:15, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
