Blanked pages edit

Hi, you blanked Goliathus conspersus and Goliathus gigantheus, but did not give a reason. I have reinstated the old version. If you think the content is incorrect, can you please request the page for deletion (see COM:DEL for help), rather than just blanking it. Thank you. Deadstar (msg) 16:16, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Leptura aethiops / stenurella nigra edit

Hi, are you sure that Image:Leptura aethiops.jpg is stenurella nigra? I think it is Leptura aethiops. Bigger than stenurella nigra and Prothorax is different form than stenurella Laisverobotams (talk) 13:42, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I mean this image:  . You named it stenurella nigra in 18 October 2007 http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Image%3ALeptura_aethiops.jpg&diff=8086945&oldid=6062313

Sthenias edit

Thanks for the genus ID. Sthenias grisator is known as a pest in Coffee and Coffee does grow in the region where it was seen in the Western Ghats of India. Is that species distinctive enough? Shyamal (talk) 08:46, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks!

File:Bee2007.jpg edit

Thank you for classifying the bee! But if you are sure of the genus, shouldn't it be classified in Category:Eristalis? --Abanima (talk) 16:03, 5 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notification about possible deletion edit

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Protaetia edit

Hallo Vitalfranz, I am the autor of the pictures file:Protaetia cuprea metallica up.jpg and file:Protaetia cuprea metallica under.jpg. I write many articles about beetles, but I am bad in determination. I always give the photos to some forum for determination, and then I read about the caracteristics of the species and varify them, if I have the specimen or if my photos allow a decision. So somebody in Entomologieforum gave me the answer of cuprea metallica and he seemed to be very shure, knowing the subspecies as well for certain. Now you altered ID to speciosissima, which according to Fauna Europaea is valid as Protaetia (Cetonischema) aeruginosa aeruginosa (Linneus 1767). I first tried to know more details with Käfer Europas. There subgenus Notecia does not appear there, but I think the decision is Cetonischema or not. In this question I would also vote for Cetonischema, as described in Käfer Europas. On the other hand, I found aeruginosa in different places in Hungary, (File:Protaetia aeruginosa up.JPG and File:Protaetia aeruginosa front.JPG) and they were as well more shiny, bigger and the hump in the middle of front of pronotum was steeper and narrower, not as in the fotos mentioned above - may be the upper ones are a male, the downer ones a female. At any rate I beg you, to have annother look and to tell me, that you are quite shure, before i start the procedure of renaming. Thanks --Siga (talk) 10:10, 26 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

High Vitalfranz. I was quite unsettled by your identification. So I consulted annother forum, the French Le monde des insectes. They enshured me, that the beetle cannot be speciosissimus (aeruginosa) because the impression along the suture with puncture. I add once more, because of the missing hump and the smallness. But you are right, it cannot be cuprea either, because of the shape and missing hairs at the hind femur. On the other hand, all characteristics of affinis fit. Therefore I will ask for renaming it and will get it out of category speciosissima and cuprea. But I will wait one ore two days, perhaps you will comment it. --Siga (talk) 14:13, 28 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
