Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

kategoryzacja

Cześć, wygląda na to, że nie jesteś jednym z uczestników WLZ, którzy od 31 września nie zaglądają do Commons, więc cię zagadnę. Jak się nietrudno zorientować, grafiki w Commons są kategoryzowane. Kategorie są najróżniejsze. Szablony zabytków WLZ na przykład wrzucają automatycznie do kategorii "Cultural monuments in gmina Taka-a-owaka". Inne kategorie dodaje się ręcznie. Commons jednak nie powinno być workiem bez ładu i składu, więc kategorie powinny tworzyć spójny zhierarchizowany system. Tymczasem po takich masowych akcjach, jak WLZ, powstają kategorie-worki, których nie da się rozsądnie przegladać. Np., w chwili, gdy to piszę Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Warsaw ma 1748 wiszących luzem plików. Na jednej stronie kategorii da się zobaczyć tylko 200 miniaturek, więc żeby coś znaleźć w takiej kategorii, trzeba klikać przez 9 stron. Dlatego tam, gdzie się tylko da, warto kategoryzować dokładniej. Np. popatrz, co zrobiłem z twoimi zdjęciami kamienicy przy Nowym Świecie 49 w Warszawie. Otóż kamienica ta ma juz na commons swoją kategorię: Category:Bentkowski Tenement House in Warsaw, więc twoje jej zdjęcia dodałem właśnie do niej. Ponadto, kategoria ta ma podkategorię, do której pasuje kolejny twój plik File:Warszawa - Nowy Świat 49 - ZJ001.jpg, czyli Category:Place of National Memory at 49, Nowy Świat Street in Warsaw. Skoro tak, to właśnie tam przeniosłem ten plik (i nie musi on być dodatkowo w kategorii Category:Bentkowski Tenement House in Warsaw czy Category:Warsaw Uprising plaques czy wreszcie Category:Struggle and Martyrdom commemorative plaques in Warsaw, bo należąc do Category:Place of National Memory at 49, Nowy Świat Street in Warsaw, należy już do wszystkich tamtych. Co więcej, skoro szablon {{Zabytek}} z odpowiednimi danymi jest już w kategorii Category:Bentkowski Tenement House in Warsaw (bo to cała kamienica Bentkowskiego łącznie z tablicą Tchorka jest zabytkiem), to ten sam szablon w poszczególnych plikach tej kategorii jest zbędny, więc go usunąłem. W ten sposób z kategorii Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Warsaw zniknęło kilka wiszących luzem i trudnych do odnalezienia plików, a pojawiły się one w jednoznacznej kategorii. Mój wywód zmierza do tego, że tego typu przenosiny zajmują dużo czasu, gdy porywa się na kilkadziesiąt tysięcy plików (np. Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Poland with unknown gmina ma jeszcze 2680 plików, choć parę dni temu było ich dwa razy więcej), więc gdybyś się czuł (czuła?) na siłach poprzeglądać swoje pliki i spróbować je pokategoryzować, byłaby zawsze jedna para rąk więcej. Oczywiście, system kategorii nie jest idealny i nie tak łatwo się w nim połapać nowicjuszowi, ale przyglądając się, jak to robia inni, można się w końcu nauczyć. Owszem, na to wyglądało, że takim użytkownikiem nie byłem. Zaglądałem tu, porządkowałem tabele z wykazem zabytków, obrabiałem dane, przygotowywałem je do wrzucenia na koniec w pełni uzupełnione do wikimedii. Ale w tej chwili mogę tę propozycję co najwyżej zbyć śmiechem :) Po tym jak człowiek poświęca energię na uczestnictwo w jakimś konkursie, a następnie organizatorzy nabijają się z własnego regulaminu i uczestników przyznając nagrody według jakiegoś kumoterskiego klucza - nie ma się już żadnej ochoty na kontynuowanie prac :) Przez ostatni miesiąc zajmowałem się lokalizowaniem zabytków z wykazu, które jeszcze współrzędnych nie miały. Z ponad 30 tysięcy takich obiektów mam już uzupełnione ponad 25 tys., ale jak widzę jakimi zasadami kieruje się (a raczej nie kieruje) komisja wychwalanego przez siebie konkursu - nie mam już ochoty dzielić się z wikipedią niczym własnym - ani czasem, ani energią, ani ochotą do działalności charytatywnej :) Prowadzę własny serwis www, pod którym się podpisując przynajmniej mam spokojne sumienie, że jest pod każdym względem serwisem uczciwym, w przeciwieństwie do wikimedii.
