- Info Western tanager (Piranga ludoviciana) in Manhattan, NY. It was particularly exciting not just because it's a beautiful bird but it's also far outside it's usual range (the western half of the continent). all by — Rhododendrites talk | 21:35, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

- Support Good colors and rendering. Probably that bush dissipated light so nice. I wish birds here go more to this kind of color and not shot on high noon - harsh colors, then you even don't know are they real. You could skip that numbers in title. --Mile (talk) 11:20, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for this. As for the number, nearly all of my uploads have this -- it's to help me to track/find/index and corresponds to Lightroom information and raw filenames. — Rhododendrites talk | 16:36, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

- Comment Very nice, but I noticed a strange spot on two berries (see notes). To me they look a little bit too harsh to be shadows. Mind having another look? --Lynxbiru (talk) 11:17, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- They do look a little odd because it's not clear how the shadow is cast (and why there aren't similar shadows elsewhere). They're definitely in the original, though. An alternative guess is that maybe that's how the fruit starts the ripen? It's typically quite hard but the bird was finding lots of soft spots to bite out -- maybe like that? I'm not at all certain, but I don't think it's a camera error or the like. — Rhododendrites talk | 14:59, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Lynxbiru, the spots are shadows cast by the berries to the right of those two. They happen to line up with the direction of the light. --Cart (talk) 15:33, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- I have not thought of that, but you are probably right. Sorry for the trouble. Support --Lynxbiru (talk) 15:55, 10 December 2020 (UTC) The interplay of bird, berries and blue sky is indeed beautiful.

- Support It would have been even nicer cropped more to the center, but then it would probably have been too small for FP. Daniel Case (talk) 21:23, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
