Cropping images

Dear friend, I kindly ask you not to crop images this way. No one of bird photographers that gentle cooperate with images under my request would like to see their images cropped so. Unformal recommendation is 16x12 always leaving a reasonable margin between the borders and the beak, and the tail. Here one example. Sincerely.--Hector Bottai (talk) 00:21, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Just to add: the CC-BY/ CC-SA licenses generally require that users "indicate if changes were made". This applies to crops as well as color enhancements. In my opinion it's generally best to upload the original, uncropped version first, then upload cropped/derivative files as separate files. Commons:CropTool can be a useful tool for faithfully transferring all metadata to crops while indicating the changes.

Hi A.C., thanks for uploading images from iNaturalist to Wikipedia Commons. However, if you are going to crop and/or flip the original image, then please do so after uploading the original and the original image has passed the automatic image review (usually within a minute of your upload). Otherwise the image license review does not pass and the image is placed in an error category (Category:iNaturalist images needing human review). I have fixed a couple for you already (Odontomachus hastatus and Paraechinus micropus) but suspect there may be others. Happy editing! Loopy30 (talk) 20:23, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

Вікі любить пам'ятки 2022 в Україні / Wiki Loves Monuments 2022 in Ukraine

Привіт!

Цього року українська частина міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки» пройде з 1 по 31 жовтня — через російське вторгнення в Україну також довелося змінити умови: тільки світлини зроблені до 23 лютого 2022 року включно будуть прийматися в основній частині конкурсу.

В Україні цей конкурс пройде вже водинадцяте. На конкурс можна подавати власні фото пам'яток історико-культурної спадщини України — і змагатися за призи. Більше можна прочитати за посиланням.

Радимо ознайомитися із детальними правилами, а також із відповідями на часті питання. Як і того року — у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток» можна отримати 21 бал за фотографії об'єктів, якщо світлин цієї пам'ятки раніше не було завантажено.
