Please properly use the "source" field

Hi Acferrad, |
----Animalparty (talk) 06:47, 24 December 2019 (UTC) I tried adding source=Own work, but I get: Warning: Page using Template:Infobox pageant titleholder with unknown parameter "source" Acferrad (talk) 19:05, 24 December 2019 (UTC) And I have seen your comment regarding Citations, however I am unsure which of these you have issues with, so looking in the Citation help page doesn't really help me. - Are you really the legal copyright holder of all the historic photos you've uploaded? Did you take the original photographs? Or did you merely scan/photograph the images from a book, magazine, museum, etc. More evidence on the source of the images is needed to verify the license (see COM:EVIDENCE). Simple reproduction of an existing image doesn't grant new copyright. I doubt you are old enough to be the photographer, but the images may well be in the public domain depending on the photographer, date, and country of first publication, for instance {{PD-South-Africa}}. If they are in public domain, your claim to copyright/CC license is moot, but the actual source is still necessary. If you are truly the legal copyright holder (e.g. an heir of the creator(s), or legal representative of photographer's estate) of images that are not in the public domain for some reason, you should submit assertions and permission following the procedure at COM:OTRS, to prevent future deletion attempts. Cheers, --Animalparty (talk) 23:08, 24 December 2019 (UTC)
- Well I have the originals of all these photographs, they have been in the family for over 100 years. Clearly I am not the photographer, however these photographs were given to my grandfather, and have stayed in the family ever since. I'm not sure how wiki would classify this.Acferrad (talk) 23:30, 24 December 2019 (UTC)
