Bridges edit

Hi Amadvance, any chance you could place the images you upload in a more defining category than the extremely wide ranging Category:Bridges? Because of the bad file names, it is hard to identify where these are but, I presume, Italy? Category:Bridges in Italy would be a good start. Calistemon (talk) 00:25, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sure. You are right, I'll do that. I see that there is also Bridges_in_the_province_of_Bergamo that is even more precise. I'll use it. Just give me few days after I get back from holiday and I'll change them all. What do you think about to start a even more precise category about the valley name ? I mean something like Bridges_in_valle_Imagna ? I can also do the same for other categories like Wayside_shrines. Amadvance (talk) 05:22, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely, the more precise the better. It will greatly help other people to find such images, too. There is some handy hints in Commons:Categories. Calistemon (talk) 10:06, 13 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Hi Amadvance, at Commons:Deletion requests/File:20230121-artavaggio invernale-013.jpg you made me aware of some unexpected statements in Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter#Noticeboards and signs. I have now amended this Help-text and added more specific information. --Túrelio (talk) 18:44, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
