Please do NOT categorize :Category: AND etc. -->> use existing Sub-Categories of a town/city/village !
Your recent uploads: Categorisation
editHi, please do not categorize your uploads (an example of your recent activity):
- Category:Canton de Fribourg +
- Category:Villes de Suisse +
- Category:CRESSIER SUR MORAT +
- Category:SUISSE +
- Category:Fribourg (CH) +
- Category:Confederation Helvetique +
- Category:Switzerland, Fribourg +
- Category:Switzerland
Please save time and capacity on commons by categorizing:
Please use as far as possible the category of the regarding city/town/village or district (if there's no category), or, a localized better 'fitting' i.e. the 'most fitting"' category(ies), and, do not add - in addition - the categories of the city, state and country, too.
For further information on categories please read Commons:Categories referring to an accurate categorisation, simplifying your further uploads and categorisation in general. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the commons:help desk.
Thank you for your assistance, Roland 13:24, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:37, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

File source is not properly indicated: File:Baufle_maurice.jpg
editThis media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Baufle_maurice.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
:File:Baufle_maurice.jpg ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Provide a verifiable source. Who created the photo? Where and when was it published? What makes you saying that "I [you] the copyright holder of this work..." (fr: En tant que détenteur du droit d’auteur, je publie cette œuvre sous...). Just writing "BAUFLE" to the source field and author field doesnt explain anything and "author: BEAUFLE" is very likely not even correct. --Martin H. (talk) 06:48, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- And p.s.: Publications like this require an explanation too. Physical ownership of a photo does not make someone the copyright holder (the owner of the intelectual porperty rights) of this photographic work. --Martin H. (talk) 06:51, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
