Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). File:ConstantinopleCases.gif has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

editI'm not going to delve into the personal animosity between you two based on a transparently-phoney Usenet message. However, you really should really not edit other people's comments to make them say the opposite of what the person intended them to say -- and the fact that you uploaded on File:Greek alphabet extended.png provides strong support for his Wikinger-sockpupppet allegations... Also, removing the distinctively Coptic letters from File:CopticLetters.svg would not necessarily result in a valid Greek-language script style, because the letterforms could have developed distinctively in Coptic. First off, Wikimedia Commons does not actually have a "No Original Research" policy as such. Second, you need to be honest that you're requesting deletion of your own old image. Who else but you would have added this to the Polish Wikipedia article on "runes"? AnonMoos (talk) 19:17, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
I can't see what the change was without downloading the full-size versions of both maps and comparing them, but the use of the term "Semitic nation"[sic] was quite unfortunate, since in reference to modern peoples (as opposed to tribesmen of 1000 B.C.) the word "Semitic" actually has very little meaning except when used in the phrase "Semitic language"... File:Horloge-republicaine0.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Constantinople. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Constantinople~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
