The interpretation of "occasional reproduction and communication by the mass media" as it is perceived here in Greece, allows for this use. Photos of any kind of public places are freely and widely use in any kind of media. Even more this is a public monument (in a public place), belonging to the Greek state and its cultural value is freely available to all people.

The law is clear enough :

"... occasional reproduction and communication by the mass media of images of works of architecture, works of the fine arts, photographs, and works of the applied arts is allowed for works permanently situated in a public place without the consent of the author of the work and without payment of any remuneration."

My photo is an occasional reproduction of this public monument, which I communicated through the mass media called internet. Which part didn't you get?

Or maybe, as your username indicates, you have some personal issues with pictures in general. If you want action, I told you, try a more constructive way.

According to Greek Law No. 2121/1993, Article 26, on Copyright, Related Rights and Cultural Matters, as it was lastly amended in 2010 :

"Επιτρέπεται, χωρίς άδεια του δημιουργού και χωρίς αμοιβή, η περιστασιακή αναπαραγωγή και διάδοση με μέσα μαζικής επικοινωνίας εικόνων με έργα αρχιτεκτονικής, εικαστικών τεχνών, φωτογραφίας ή εφαρμοσμένων τεχνών, που βρίσκονται μονίμως σε δημόσιο χώρο."

or translated in English :

"Occasional reproduction and communication by the mass media of images of works of architecture, works of the fine arts, photographs, and works of the applied arts is allowed for works permanently situated in a public place without the consent of the author of the work and without payment of any remuneration"

If someone thinks this law does not allow this picture to be published on the internet, let him present a court decision which supports his arbitrary interpretation. No such decision exists.

So, do not remove this picture, and please people, stop trying to restrict our access to public goods and our cultural heritage.
