Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:53, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Hello User:Georginho, could you please reupload this file with an angled bond on the left O? Also, if this is possible with the software you are using, SVG format would be much appreciated (only for structure formulae). --Nothingserious (talk) 08:13, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Nothingserious: I've corrected the bond angle on the O. But it's still in the PNG format. My experience is that ChemDraw has troubles converting CDX files to SVG images. But in this case, it seems to be in order. I can't upload the SVG on top of the PNG. The only way is to upload the former and delete the latter. I will see what I can do in terms of nominating the PNG for deletion. Cheers!

- Thank you! There exists template:Vva for this, so yes, you would have to upload it to a different file. I meant this more for future uploads though, as PNG is appropriate for structures if the resolution is high enough, no acute need to replace this file. --Nothingserious (talk) 11:48, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Nothingserious: Alright! I am going to leave the PNG version as it is. For future uploads, I will examine if conversion of CDX to SVG is successful. If so, I will upload the SVG images. Cheers!
