Process for affirming Public Domain release of photograph of Deborah O'Neill edit

Hi there @ITBF - am responding to your note regarding the image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Labor_Senator_for_NSW,_Deborah_O%27Neil.jpg

The image was indeed taken by someone in the Auspic team and they gave their consent for the image to be released to the Public Domain, though clearly that was not made plain on the image sharing account. I'm now trying to help that photographer to make things clear by asking them to write to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org where they will make that plain. I had understood that the CC BY 4.0 was already clear from the point of the photo sharing platform, my apologies if I have made a mistake.

Great thanks for that User:MatthewDalhousie - appreciate all your recent uploads. ITBF (talk) 02:54, 15 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Appreciate your patience @ITBF. I fear that many of the team at Parliamentary Services may now be on summer break (and fair enough too), so it may be a while before I hear back.MatthewDalhousie (talk) 04:54, 18 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Notification about possible deletion edit

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Willy-nilly edit

I think it's unfair of you to call me out like this given the amount of time and effort I've put in to bring MatthewDalhousie's files to a state where they can be kept on Commons. Cryptic-waveform (talk) 04:43, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

And I think it's unfair of you to subject him to an exceptionally high and unjustified level of scrutiny when he's clearly acting in good faith and is uploading images in subject areas that are desperately needed. Australia doesn't have the luxury of government-wide PD imagery, we want to be encouraging people in his position and with levels of access to take the time to upload not driving them away. FYI edit

FYI the source link on File:Ray O'Connor 1965.jpg seems to not be working. Any idea why? Steelkamp (talk) 03:27, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

The NAA doesn't have a great set-up unfortunately - links to items only seem to work if you have an "active session", i.e. you're already searching photos. If you go to PhotoSearch and type in the item number (30921928) with "Item ID" selected in the dropdown, the correct record will pop up. Felt a bit bad uploading as I much prefer the fair-use colour photo that you found previously! ITBF (talk) 04:21, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I should add - well done on the article :) ITBF (talk) 04:23, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. That's unfortunate about the NAA search, and at least the new photo can be used on other articles such as the list of premiers and the 1983 election. Steelkamp (talk) 04:43, 10 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrol given edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Abzeronow (talk) 18:13, 21 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Categ9ries edit

Could you double-check the categories, please? I think they are wrong now.

NearEMPTiness (talk) 11:52, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

The categories are correct, the images are misnamed - I will request a move. ITBF (talk) 12:24, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
