Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.

カテゴリについて

初めましてSakurayama 7さん。多くの画像をアップロードして頂いていますがカテゴリを付していないので、カテゴリについて説明いたします。File:E217body.pngで説明します。このファイルの最下部に「カテゴリ (+⁺): JR East E217(−) (±) (↓) (↑)(+)」があり、「JR East E217」をクリックすればJR East E217の画像がカテゴライズされて集まっているページにたどり着けます。たどり着けるだけでなく、この画像が行方不明になることも防いでいます。どういうことかというと、ウィキメディア・コモンズ（コモンズ）では毎日大量の画像がアップロードされているからです。ウィキペディア記事で一度貼付した画像がそのままずっと残ることがあるかもしれませんが、誰かが別の画像に置き換えることもあります。別の画像に置き換えられると、アップロードした本人にしかその画像の存在はわかりません。せっかくアップロードした画像が探せなくなるのはもったいないことです。もちろん検索という方法はありますが、適切なキーワードでその画像が探せるかどうかはキーワード次第ということになります。平仮名、カタカナ、アルファベットなど様々の文字で検索するわけですから当然に検索に引っかからないこともあります。しかしカテゴリに分類されていれば、そのカテゴリのページを見ただけで画像が探せます。過去の画像を資料として活かせることになります。カテゴリに分類するのは誰でも行っていい作業です。私もカテゴリを付けてはいますが、アップロードされた画像をすべてカテゴライズするのは不可能です。一番確実なのはアップロードしたご本人がカテゴライズすることです。ウィキペディア記事の左側の縦になったメニューに「他のプロジェクトコモンズ」とあります。このコモンズがカテゴリです。Category:JR East E217 を「カテゴリ (+⁺): JR East E217(−) (±) (↓) (↑)(+)」の右端の(+)をクリックしてコピペするだけです。これでファイルはカテゴライズされたことになります。ご自分のアップロードされたファイルが資料として活かせるようにカテゴライズされるようおすすめします。最後になりましたがFile:E217body.pngに青と赤の太い線が描いてあったので記事を読んだところ、運転席の構造についてよく知ることができました。記事と合わせてこの画像を見ることによってよく理解できました。線を書き込み説明をされているSakurayama 7さんには感服いたしました。お礼を申し上げる次第です。--Krorokeroro (talk) 22:08, 7 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
