Hi. Thanks for sharing the nifty image File:The Ballerina.jpg. Could you please add some details as to how you are the copyright holder (as opposed to the copyright being retained by the artist George Petty)? Thanks. Cheers, Infrogmation (talk) 14:57, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
I am not sure if this is the way to respond to your e-mail in regards to the jpg files that I have posted. The files are of paintings that I own, purchased at auction, and my understanding is that I purchased all rights to them.
Of the files that I have posted, they are commonly available in both web and print media. Both of them have been previously published by the estate of the seller.
Links available on this listing direct others to "Flicker" sites which detail multiple images of the artists, including those of my art works.
Let me know if I need to change anything, I want to share what I have with others.
Thanks.
Even if you own the original artwork on this, it doesn't mean you own the copyright. In particular, "PD-self" licensing is impossible... AnonMoos (talk) 00:36, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- I will often see a comment left on my user talk page much quicker than I will an e-mail. Usually, either the artist (or his heirs or assignees) retains copyright to the work, or possibly the publishing company if it was "work-for-hire". Unfortunately, legal copyright is not necessarily transferred along with physical ownership of the original artwork (usually it isn't, unless some special provision has been made)... File:First Mate.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |
