Dear participants to the WLM CH contest 2013,

The 2014 edition of the Wiki Loves Monuments contest began Monday 8th September.

This year the contest specifically focuses on the Alps. The previous editions enabled to collect thousands of pictures related to Swiss monuments. Thanks to you, Wikimedia Commons has a picture for many monuments but we realised that the ones located in the Alps were under represented.

Wikimedia CH organises several Wikiexpeditions during the contest to go and take pictures of monuments for which we have little content in Commons. By participating to those Wikiexpeditions you will have the opportunity to see the drone of the association in action. For more information, check out the link Commons:Wiki4Involvement.

Remember that to participate, the pictures may have been taken at any point in time, not only during the present time of the contest.

Have you already thought of searching in family archives? Maybe you have treasures such as pictures dated from the 50's! Hundreds of slides to scan? Do contact us, we can help!

You will find the contest's website http://wiki4alps.ch necessary information there or you may write to us using the following address: info@wikimedia.ch.

With our warmest regards, The organising committee

Gentile partecipante a Wiki Loves Monuments CH 2013

Thank you for taking part in Wiki Loves Monuments UK
Thank you for submitting your photos to the competition, it really helps improve our coverage of historic sites. Photos from this year are already being used on Wikipedia - though it may take a while for the monuments map to catch up so don't be disheartened if some pins haven't turned blue yet.

WLM runs until the end of the month, so please add more and invite other people to take part. We are within touching distance of 1,000 photos for the UK, putting us just behind the United States in 14th place out of 49 countries taking part. Let's see if we can jump a few places! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message here or contact me directly at richard.nevell@wikimedia.org.uk.

An update from Wiki Loves Monuments UK

Thank you for taking part in Wiki Loves Monuments UK
More than 300 people have contributed a total of 4,000 photos to this year's competition and we wanted to say thank you for helping us get this far. The competition runs until the end of September, and you can upload as many images as you want - so feel free to document some more sites. Or why not go through your old images to see if you have any others that could be submitted?

Since you've already submitted some pictures to the competition, you might be interested in the banner mini-contest; to take part you crop your images to a 7:1 and upload a new version. You can find out more about how to do that here. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the competition and share it with others! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 12:24, 22 September 2017 (UTC)}Reply

Hi there! Kevin from Wiki Loves Monuments in the United States here. I know it's been a tough year for everyone, and I hope this message finds you well.

You are receiving this message as a participant in last year's Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in the United States. First, a recap: We concluded with over 5,200 great photos of U.S. historical sites made possible by contributors like you. If you haven't yet seen, last year's U.S. winners are viewable here, and the international winners here (including multiple from the United States!).

Second, as you may have seen from the banner notices on Wikipedia, this year's Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in the United States has been running through October instead of September in consideration of the pandemic and the hectic start of the fall season. Despite the challenges of the year, we're thrilled that the United States has surpassed 5,000 photo contributions so far.

October 31st is the last day to upload photos for the U.S. competition this year. If you've already contributed, thank you so much - and it's great to have you again this year! If you haven't yet contributed but are interested in participating again, you're invited to join us during these last couple days. Check out the United States event page for more information. Remember that you are welcome to upload and submit photos of historic sites that you've taken any time in the past, not just this month.

As always, thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments! If you'd like to respond to this message directly, please do so on on my talk page. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 07:20, 30 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
