File:ContentTranslation Contributions popover-hr.png edit

File:ContentTranslation Contributions popover-hr.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Support for more languages edit

Hi, both the links on User:LanguageScreenshotBot are dead, would be great if they could be updated. I'm looking for information about how the bot can be configured to make screenshots in more languages like nb and nn. Ping Vikassy, Amire80, ElitreDanmichaelo (δ) 07:50, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
The code that generates the screenshot has been neglected for a few months, but it is being massively rewritten right now by User:ZFilipin (WMF) and User:ESanders (WMF), and it will rolled out very soon.
If the translation of VisualEditor to these languages is complete, then once the bot is running again, the screenshots will be created in them. Please check the completeness of the translation here:
Thanks for the interest, and expect good news very soon! --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 08:44, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Great, looking forward to it! Taking lots of screenshots manually is a pain! – Danmichaelo (δ) 08:54, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
Amir E. Aharoni Danmichaelo You can track the progress at Phabricator task T139613. --ZFilipin (WMF) (talk) 08:58, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Danmichaelo: The bot is configured to run nb but not nn (see screenshotLangs.json) ZFilipin (WMF) (talk) 17:38, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
nb is 98% translated but nn only 50%. ZFilipin (WMF) (talk) 17:47, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

de (German) edit

de (German) Hi @ZFilipin, would you please restart the bot and upload files to [[Category:VisualEditor automatic screenshots/de]]. Thanks in advance, Juergen (talk) 09:11, 25 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Juergen and apologies for the late reply. I am investigating if the bot still works. It has been a long time since it ran. --ZFilipin (WMF) (talk) 15:04, 6 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi @ZFilipin, thanks for the reply. It's not necessary to do as soon as possible. One of our users wants to write a few help pages about VE and include screenshots with German labels. By now, we can wait a little bit more. -- Juergen (talk) 06:55, 7 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Juergen, this is tracked as T162454 --ZFilipin (WMF) (talk) 12:56, 7 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
Oops. I'll hope someone will find a solution. -- Juergen (talk) 13:08, 7 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi @ZFilipin, I repeat my request because you marked T162454 as resolved. -- Regards, Juergen (talk) 10:21, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Juergen that task is fixed, but there are another two tasks that have to be resolved so LanguageScreenshotBot would be fully functional again, T184732 and T139747. There is almost no chance I will have time to work on LanguageScreenshotBot in March. Hopefully I will have more time for LanguageScreenshotBot in April. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ZFilipin (WMF) (talk • contribs) 13:38, 2 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Juergen there is some progress on a related task T189122, so this might get fixed this month after all. ZFilipin (WMF) (talk) 12:01, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Juergen Apologies for the delay. I have uploaded all German files: Category:VisualEditor-de. ZFilipin (WMF) (talk) 18:01, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Updates? edit

@ZFilipin is the bot working? VE is using Mediawiki:publishchanges for a lot of time but the screenshots are not updated (for example: File:VisualEditor toolbar actions-en.png). If it doesn't we need to create screenshots manually. -Geraki TLG 11:41, 18 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

@User:Geraki The last time I have checked, the bot did correctly take screenshots, but uploading to Commons was not working. I am finishing another project and will work on fixing upload as soon as possible. You can follow T162454 task in Phabricator. --ZFilipin (WMF) (talk) 10:50, 20 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
@User:Geraki I have just uploaded all English screenshots: Category:VisualEditor-en ZFilipin (WMF) (talk) 18:42, 8 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
  • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
  • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
  • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
  • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
  • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

Thank you.

Hi, Hope you are doing well. Can this bot provide us similar screenshots of Kashmiri Wikipedia Interface as used in Visual editor tutorials. If so Kindly let us know. Thankyou. 511KeV (talk) 16:26, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi @511KeV. I'm not actively maintaining the bot. As far as I know, it hasn't run in a few years. I have created a task in Phabricator to run the bot (T311845), but I don't know when I'll have the time to work on it. If you have a Phabricator account, feel free to comment there.
