Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

IP block exempt
editI have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.
Please read the page Commons:IP block exemption carefully.
Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Commons via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator. Guanaco (talk) 04:31, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
Okay but I want to note here that I am in China so I do use a VPN. I don't plan on making any edits to Commons - I'm primarily focused on Wikivoyage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lishuilynn (talk • contribs) 04:36, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- You'll need help from a Wikivoyage admin or a steward for that, though this should allow you to upload images here. Guanaco (talk) 04:39, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- You may have the best luck using m:Special:Contact/stewards to contact the stewards privately. They can't unblock the IP, as it is a VPN, but they may be willing to apply the exemption for you globally. Guanaco (talk) 04:41, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
I'm not having any issues uploading things to Wikivoyages (yet?), fortunately. I just want to be able to upload photos to use on Wikivoyages and it looks like that will probably work fine. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lishuilynn (talk • contribs) 04:58, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- I did some minor editing to File:Lishui from above.jpg. Do you think it's an improvement, or should we revert? Guanaco (talk) 05:09, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
You don't have to revert. I haven't actually edited a lot of my pictures (yet) and I have a lot more views from the mountains but I don't have time to go through everything now to pick out the best ones. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lishuilynn (talk • contribs) 05:13, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
- I'm looking forward to seeing more of them. I added this one to Wikipedia at en:Lishui#Economy. Guanaco (talk) 05:24, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
Please sign your postings
editAs a courtesy to other editors, it is Commons:Signatures policy to sign your posts on talk pages, user talk pages, deletion requests, and noticeboards. To do so, simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments. Your user name or IP address (if you are not logged in) and the date will then automatically be added along with a timestamp when you save your comment. Signing your comments helps people to find out who said something and provides them with a link to your user/talk page (for further discussion). Thank you.
