Wiki loves monuments edit

Hallo Luca,

Having seen your presentation and your work on Commons, I'm quickly passing by to make some advertisement about the Wiki loves monuments (http://www.wikilovesmonuments.ch ) contest currently running in Switzerland till the end of September. As you can see on the site, we have so far no pictures from Basel-area and I'm wondering if you would like to participate... Please don't hesitate to contact me for any question you may have.

Beste Grüsse, Luca-bs (talk) 17:32, 4 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

You are welcome, and congrats for the first pictures ! I fully agree with your idea of puting the priority on objets without pictures at all, this is really the key of the contest. Regarding German and French contests, as far as I know, they are handling photos differently, i.e. everything needs to be done on Commons ; I strongly suggest you to check on the respective web sites to see what is the process to follow.
Good luck and best regards, Manoillon (talk) 08:04, 5 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Rheinfähre "Vogel Gryff" edit

You removed Category:Cable ferries. If you look at the images, you'll find she is definately a cable ferry. Any reason? --Stunteltje (talk) 22:16, 18 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello Stunteltje! I categorized the whole Category:Ferries in Basel as a subcategory of Category:Cable ferries (and as a subcategory of Category:Reaction ferries), cause all ferries in Basel are reaction ferries with an overhead cable. The somewhat large category cable ferries now has 16 pictures less and thus is now (a bit) more readable. --Luca-bs (talk) 17:19, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Understood. Personally I prefer only individual ship categories or just images in that category. I asked ferrymaster urs.zimmerli@bluewin.ch for the details of the vessel, to make it possible to make a separate category by name. Leave it now until I hear from the ferrymaster. --Stunteltje (talk) 22:30, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
