Deletion of Wikimedia Upload
editHi, best regards. Thanks for your copyright concern. I’d like to note that everything posted on Geni is required to already be in the public domain, and can’t be subject to copyright. Since I got the image from Geni, I am sure it is in the public domain. I even provided the album that I got it from. Therefore, I am appealing your deletion request.
See this link for information: https://www.geni.com/projects/Provenance-and-Images/1020 Dag21902190 (talk) 13:45, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi there,
- I've read the page you sent and it seems like the policy on Geni is that images must be public domain or be self-published, and therefore Geni holds the copyright. Whatever applies on Geni might not apply here at Commons. I've also heard that Geni is also a copyright violation. If you would like the file to be kept, you must follow the instructions on the page of the file. Myrealnamm (💬talk · ✏️contribs) at 17:23, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Please do not overwrite files like that, and read the page linked above to better understand. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:51, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Billinghurst Noted, thank you for the notice!
- So, the version from 2007 should be kept as the Wikipedia ad? I'm just curious why you deleted the version I uploaded (is it because it was unused in the Module code or I didn't give correct attribution)? Sorry if it's an obvious answer and my head is not turning today. Myrealnamm (💬pros · ✏️cons) 01:11, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- You requested its deletion under G7, I deleted it per your request. — billinghurst sDrewth 01:20, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, that was for if the file was to be overwritten. Would it make sense to undelete it and set that as the file displayed for the Wikipedia ad? Thanks. Myrealnamm (💬pros · ✏️cons) 01:21, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution.
