Hello We proper, the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:

File:CREATURE.jpg

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.

And also:

Yours sincerely, Hystrix (talk) 03:41, 15 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Hystrix: I don't understand why these images were deleted-- the creator of the work uploaded them. They are clearly within scope, the individuals depicted are notable (see en:Sav_Killz and en:Creature (musician)). Why were they deleted without discussion? Why didn't you ask the uploader to explain their usage? Can you please restore them, so that they can be used on the appropriate content pages? Sadads (talk) 11:38, 2 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
Moreover, at the time of deletion one of the images was being used on enwiki see the history. It seems very inappropriate to blanket delete this kind of content without notification. Sadads (talk) 11:39, 2 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Sadads: Da Du auf Deiner en-WP-Seite de-Kenntnisse angibst, werde ich keinen Übersetzer bemühen. Du hast mehrere Fragen gestellt und Aussagen getroffen.
- „the creator of the work uploaded them“ Weshalb lässt er dann den Fotografen verschwinden [1]?
- ist We_proper cb milin? Ich weiß es nicht. Bitte OTRS nutzen. Hystrix (talk) 12:02, 17 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
These were released as open source by the photographer who took the photos during one of our Black Lunch Table events. I'm confused why they were deleted and also why he is being threatened with deletion of user privileges for trying in good faith to follow. --Heathart (talk) 16:40, 23 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

HystrixHeathartPharosandSadads I'm not sure why these are being deleted. They were created during a Black Lunch Table event and were used for exiting articles.--We proper (talk) 16:34, 23 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
The photo should be undeleted. It was taken at a wiki event by the photographer outside of the Brooklyn Public Library (photos of event inside the same day) and clearly licensed by them.--Pharos (talk) 16:45, 23 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Please see this. C. Bay Milin is a photographer from Brooklyn. Please see COM:OTRS for the instructions how to send a permission. Hystrix (talk) 22:15, 23 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Hystrix: Please undelete. The photographer is a photographer and uploaded it themselves under their username, that should not be a surprise. The photograph was taken as part of a wiki event and was clearly given a Commons-compatible license, there is no reason to say permission has not been given and to require an extra step.--Pharos (talk) 19:12, 24 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Hystrix, Pharos and Sadads, These remain deleted and I don't understand why. They were being used on an article in Wikipedia and were totally donated by this photographer and uploaded using the correct OTRS method. This is frustrating for photographers who donate their work. Any way we can get them undeleted now?--Heathart (talk) 16:50, 12 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • @Hystrix, I'm undeleting these photographs and restoring the uploader's username as the author because I think it's clear that the uploader is the photographer/copyright holder. There is also an OTRS ticket in the queue if needed. Reach out on my talk page if any additional discussion is warranted (so we don't wheel war). czar 21:23, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
