Category:Yamasa fish paste and Category:Yamasa fish paste Yumesaki factory

You declined the categories' speedy deletion requests, insisting that Kamaboko means "fish paste" in Japanese. But even if that is grammatically correct, we should keep in mind that the company's English name is "Yamasa Kamaboko". What it means is that "Yamasa fish paste" is not official nor authorised term, will hardly be used, thus Category:Yamasa fish paste and Category:Yamasa fish paste Yumesaki factory are not good redirects at all. As another example, imagine Category:Nintendo has a redirect named "Category:Ninten hall" (that's what do means in Japanese) and I'm sure you will think it is nonsense. Agtt-gs, please read Commons:Project scope/Pages, galleries and categories#Non-allowable user page/gallery/category content about userpages. They are mostly for describing, who you are in Wikipedia. I think, that userpages, which talk only, who you are outside Wikipedia, are not good. You may also read {{No advertising}}. Now I see, that self-promotion is not your only goal in Wikipedia, that's good. You can re-create the userpage, but it should not consist only self-promotion. Please restore New_official_Aam_Aadmi_Party_logo.png

File:New official Aam Aadmi Party logo.png was uploaded in September 2015 and a speedy deletion was put today. I commented on this that I as an office bearer of the party was authorized to upload the new logo. Before any comments you deleted this file. It is natural that logos of political parties will used in their websites, facebooks etc which cannot be termed a pre-published material. The image was uploaded first into Facebook and then into Commons. This is not allowed, Facebook images cannot be uploaded into Commons. Only free images can be uploaded into Commons, but Facebook images cannot be used commercially without Facebook permission. Arijit Upadhyay, please don't re-upload a file while discussion is going on (as you did here). Taivo, I don't understand your argument that AAP needs permission of FB to use AA's logo.

Arijit Upadhyay, the easiest method to ask administrators of any of those site to add a permission there. Then you can quote it in the file page. A formal mail from an email account under aamaadmiparty.org can also be sent to COM:OTRS in the prescribed format. But it may take time to process as it experiences huge backlog now. I was planning to re-nominate File:Unit 731 victim.jpg for deletion, and was directed to contact the administrator who kept it at the previous DR.

After the DR was closed as keep, I raised my concern at the file talkpage[1], as well as asked the initial uploader for an input[2]. To date, there has been no response to either of them.

We also had some discussions at English[3][4] and Japanese[5] Wikipedia. In both, we agreed that we cannot use the image in the article because it lacks a reliable source verifying what is in the photograph.

These discussions clearly show that nothing reliably demonstrates who took the picture where and when. I do not think we can keep a image whose copyright status is so dubious or we can assume good faith in respect of copyright status.

In addition, the above discussions have also made it clear that without a reliable source verifying its contents, we cannot use the photograph in the Wikipedia article. Unless we know for sure what the picture depicts, it is of no practical use in Wikipedia, or for any other educational purposes. The image should be deleted in this regard as well.

Thank you very much for asking.

Commons collects free media over the whole world. The files can be used in Wikipedia articles, but not every file in Commons must be in use. Commons collects files for use for people outside Wikipedia also.

You are concerned about copyright of the file. The license states: "photographed before 1946, under the jurisdiction of the Government of Japan". I consider very unlikely, that the photo was created after 1945. In my opinion it is surely in public domain due to age. It is properly sourced and licensed. I see no copyright problems with the file.

There are some other problems with the file. You said, that we do not know exact photographer, year and under what kind of circumstances the photo was taken. But this does not affect the photo's copyright status. It affects the photo's usability in articles, but this is generally not problem of Commons.

During WWII a lot of unclear things happened, unlike nowadays. In my opinion it is understandable, that photos from those times are not so well documented as photos from Iraq war. I am quite demanding for 21st century photos, but not so strict for WWII photos. Taivo (talk) 14:54, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for investigation. I improved file description and added license for China. It is normal, that Xinhua claims copyright, but it does not mean much. There are a lot of photos in archives and Xinhua has no time and manpower to sort out, when to claim copyright and when not, so they claim copyright to everything. If the photo is actually too old for copyright, then Xinhua's claim is void. Taivo (talk) 23:03, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for revising the file description. Here's one last question: the summary section of the file description still cites the Crime Magazine as source. Do you think it necessary?. The recently added translation seems to (by my limited understanding) indicate in Estonian that the view is taken facing "south-west" when in the original description it states "south-east".

Why does a violation that qualifies for SpeedyDelete not be qualified simply because I was not aware of the procedure?

I'm a new user here, so please pardon my ignorance. I noticed that File:Ancient Egyptian Medicine-Ipwy.jpg was a direct copy of a copyrighted image, as I was looking for a non-copyrighted photograph of the original painting that the image depicts, to avoid the copyright problem. I put in the delete request, thinking that it would be promptly dealt with. I've since realized that the delete process takes over a month due to backlog, and that you have a SpeedyDelete process to handle exactly my type of request, as opposed to more mundane requests. You removed my SpeedyDelete because I had previously put in a regular Delete ... which was the only process I was aware of at the time. You seem to say that because I was not aware of the proper procedure, that I've forfeited my right to have the copyright violation addressed in a timely manner. That just doesn't make sense to me. I left the old delete in place, because I thought it contained info that supported my reason for the request and would be helpful to you. What should I do at this point?? Thanks! Hi-storian, if I see an obvious copyright violation, then I can delete it speedily and speedy deletion request is a right decision. But here – I doubt, arguably the file was published under free license. Copyright violation is not obvious and this is discussed in the deletion request. The "free license" is a "non-commercial" license. My understanding is that you cannot accept that, as you do not impose a non-commercial restriction. Am I wrong on that? Also, the image is still a derivative of an image copyrighted 1927 in the U.S. The "free license" does not change the rights under the 1927 copyright. Just trying to understand the rules, here. Выручайте, я ошибся при создании категории

Я немного поспешил при создании категории. В результате создал категорию: Category:Churches in Bender. Но дело в том что уже была категория Category:Churches in Bender, Moldova. Но переименовать уже существующую категорию не могу, равно как и удалить только что созданную Churches in Bender. В связи с этим у меня просьба:

или просто удалите категорию Category:Churches in Bender
или удалите категорию Category:Churches in Bender, а затем переименуйте уже существующую категорию Category:Churches in Bender, Moldova в Churches in Bender

Так как это единственный Бендер в мире, где находятся церкви, лучше использовать короткое имя.

А ещё вы спросили, что нужно делать с явно бракованными фотографиями. Чтобы их удалить, нужно 1) поставить на файл {{delete}} со всеми параметрами, 2) сказать это и участнику, загруживший этот файл, 3) добавить на лист дня всех заявок на удаление. Dear user:Sebdicam, Commons encourages other people outside Commons to use its photos, including for commercial purpose. Commons does not accept Wikipedia-only licenses. I consider your photos still valuable for use in future articles. If the photo is once published under free license, then it remains under free license. You can upload into Commons self-made photos. Some photos have free license and you can upload them also. Please read more about suitable licenses (ar:ويكيبيديا:حقوق التأليف والنشر). But for some famous people it is impossible to find free photos. Then the correct solution is not to upload photos and to write articles about them without images. Запрос на удаление и разделение файлов

1) Откатите пожалуйста правку участника по переименованию категорию Samsung displays в Samsung Display. Я бы и сам их откатил, но вы то лучше знаете английский, и поэтому вы сможете рассудить прав я или нет. Я считаю что пользователь просто ошибся. Раньше было абсолютно правильное название категории, а после переименования оно стало выглядеть как будто в Мире всего один монитор Самсунг! Для сравнения вот название аналогичной категории мониторов другого производителя: LG displays

Аналогичная проблема возникает, если мне не изменяет память, при переименовании файлов. Есть большая катерия Media requiring renaming когда что-то из неё переименовываешь, то всё впорядке. А вот в других, например, Images of Kennedy Space Center with bad file names возникает такая же ситуация. После переименования, всё равно на файле остаётся категория Images of Kennedy Space Center with bad file names. Как вы видите это оносится не только к некатегоризированным файлам, но и к файлам с плохими названиями. А может быть есть ещё и другие категории. Your front page note on deleting blank pages

I have been spending most of my time editing all the books categories and put almost all of the blank pages from User:Faes Bot Script in here Category:Blank pages. I don't suggest deleting them but his Bot uploads everything it seems without much human intervention. It's an interesting Category to see. The Discussion page suggests leaving the files so just an FYI. I also am filling Cat:Marbled paper as well from the Bot and my edits. Keep up the good work. Copyright violation?

Hello. You deleted files File:Langhans, Josef Čapek, 02.jpg and File:Langhans, Josef Fanta, 01.jpg with the summary Copyright violation; see Commons:Licensing: author's request. I cannot obviously see the files, but from the filenames I presume both pictures are the work of Jan Nepomuk Langhans (1851 - 1928), see Category:Jan Nepomuk Langhans, so they should be in public domain (in Czech republic the copyright expires 70 years after autor's death). --Vachovec1 (talk) 12:52, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi Taivo, in the case of the most of the photographs, author is unknown. So it could be taken even in 1894, however if the author is unknown, then according to the Czech copyright law, the copyright belongs to the publisher the copyright expires 70 years after publishing. So if we don't know, whether the photograph was published before 1945, it should be deleted. So, please, delete also these two files: File:Langhans, Hana Benoniová, 05.jpg and File:Langhans, Johanna Buska, 01.jpg. Thanks. --Daniel Baránek (talk) 16:41, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

User:Abbedabb, free licenses are irrevocable. If you have published the photo under free license, for example, uploaded it into Commons, then you have no right to demand its removal. Every day circa 2000 files get deleted, but for other reasons, for example, due to low quality. Your photos are big and illustrate the person well. Taivo (talk) 06:33, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

I have uploaded four photos of Valgerður Þóroddsdóttir, but I wish to delete two of them, since Valgerður herself does not approve of them. How can I do that? Bizarre complications

I'm experiencing an issue regarding nomination for deletion. I put deletion template, I inserted it in deletion requests, and I informed the uploader. Так что, если сможете, то создайте пожалуйста подкатегорию с svg файлами православных крестов в категории Orthodox crosses и категорию с svg файлами других крестов в огромной категории Christian crosses.

Schwertmannite pictures deleted

Hello Taivo, you deleted two photos about schwertmannite due to a theorethical infraction of copyright. In fact, these two pics were taken from one thesis with commons licence, so in my point of view, both photos are able to be displayed in Wikipedia. Thanks. Let's take you recent upload file:Neelkanth Lather jat.jpg. The file is correctly sourced, but source site says in bottom of page: "Copyright: The Tribune Trust,2015". That means: you must not upload any content of this site into Commons without permission from author. The author can be Tribune Trust, but not necessarily, because they buy publishing rights from other photographers also. You uploaded the photo into Commons and violated the photographer's copyright. User:Calebjbaker, this is difficult to believe, because both files stated Tom Baker as author. At first, OTRS-permission from Tom Baker is needed. The files say Tom Baker because I designed them on Tom Baker's computer. I assume any file made with Microsoft Publisher on the computer will add metadata stating that he is the author, even if he is not. He is my father. Ну если каждый художник так напишет о своём файле, то что тогда? Пусть у себя в фейсбуке пишет. Я перевёл на русский неск. страниц и ничего полезного не нашёл. Также объясните почему вы оставили галереи дорожных знаков (редиректы на категории), созданные известным вандалом и мистификатором Jermboy27. Эти "галереи" дублируют категории и содержат кучу мистификаций, о чём свидетельствуют сотни откатов и блокировок этого вандала. Здравствуйте. Вы недавно отменили правку участника IrakliGuna по файлу Bagratuni_Armenia_1000-en.svg, где он занимался откровенным вандализмом. Тем не менее участник не успокоился, он создал отдельную карту якобы Багратидской Армении при этом урезав её территорию где-то на четверть, настоящая карта основана на авторитетном источнике, эта же представляет из себя просто оригинальное исследование, искажение информации из АИ. Причем он начал повсеместно в статьях Википедии (в разных языковых разделах) менять правильную карту на этот свой опус (смотрите здесь). Я считаю и настаиваю на том, что участник за многочисленные акты викивандализма и войн правок должен быть бессрочно заблокирован а эта искаженная карта должна быть удалена из Викисклада. Кстати действует он вместе с участником Georgiano, добавляя разные оригинальные искаженные карты, например здесь они добавили карту княжества Тао-Кларджети в 10 веке которая включает чуть ли не треть всего Армянского царства, границы аж до озера Ван доходят, в этой же карте он удалил Армению и расширил территорию Грузии аж в 2-3 раза (его правку потом отменили), кроме того вместе с Georgiano они добавили несколько абсолютно искаженных карт Абхазского царства, опять оттяпав хорошенький кусок от Армянского царства ([13], [14]), на этой карте он также делает оригинальные правки без источников и вступает в войну правок (сейчас файл стоит на его оригинальной искаженной версии), он даже создал такую несостоятельную карту "Грузинской империи" при этом проталкивая её в Википедии (таких примеров много, все не перечислишь). Короче говоря, ничего кроме постоянных вандализмов, войн правок, и оригинальных исследований он в проект не привносит, также как и Georgiano (возможно один и тот же человек).Ничем кроме бессрочной блокировки такого человека не остановить. --Rs4815 (talk) 10:12, 15 March 2016 (UTC)

Здесь две проблемы. Во-первых, оригинальное исследование запрещено в других проектов, но не в Викискладе. Во-вторых, если какой-нибудь файл используют в каком-нибудь проекте, тогда этот файл не может быть удалён на никаком другом причине кроме нарушения авторских прав. Думаю ещё, что делать. Во-первых: Тао-Кларджети или по-армянски Тайк был не царством а княжеством, вассальным от царей объединённого Армянского царства (также как например царство Лори, Карсское царство или Хаченское княжество) и оно не было "грузинским княжеством" а приграничным регионом Армении со смешанным армяно-грузинским населением, где правила младшая ветвь армянской царской династии Багратидов. Объединённое Грузинское царство возникло только в 1008 году и то без Тайка и Тбилиси. На своих картах этот регион показывает как часть владений Армении к 1000 году не только George Bournoutian но и Robert Hewsen (Armenia: A Historical Atlas, стр. 96, карта. 74). Обе признанные авторитетнейшие специалисты по истории региона. А ваши повсеместные революционные заявления мол Карсского царства не существовало (!) даже комментировать не стану.

Hello. I've come here as I see that my sample image for the font Apple Color Emoji has been deleted. Can you tell me why this is? I don't seem to have got any kind of notification about it.

Apple Color Emoji is a font (with a hack to make it display colours) and in general, derivative images of fonts are normally considered acceptable on Wikimedia Commons - there's a category for them. So to me this should be acceptable - a lot of fonts like Wingdings show images or symbols rather than letters. Blythwood (talk) 22:09, 17 March 2016 (UTC)

User:Blythwood, Fonts are not copyrightable in USA and in this you are right. The problem is that you used images representing letters and every of these images surpasses threshold of originality (even if the threshold is quite high in USA). One solution is to use only free (or self-made) images. For collages source and license of every used image is needed. For example, if you give evidence, that all 6 images used in the collage are free, then the image can be restored. That case my apologies. I see you started Commons:Deletion requests/Files of Foxhunter22, which I was going to do but you got there first. I wanted to nominate the rest of their images but in using the Help:VisualFileChange.js script for performing batch tasks I can't see which images that have already been nominated because you did not tag all the images with a deletion notice. Is it possible to complete that job? I can then nominate only those not already nominated as there seems little point in duplicating images in two discussions. Thanks in advance. Because after closing the request, at 20:16, 16 March 2016 the uploader Alan de lacy rush nominated it for speedy deletion. I noticed, that this was 9th day after uploading and we grant courtesy deletion until week after uploading, so I will not protest, if we restore the image with formal reason "uploader hasn't anymore right to demand deletion of the file". 3) 6 февраля 2016 я загрузил фотографию из Фликра:

А потом обнаружил что есть аналогичное фото (правда кадрированное)

User:Diego287, DESiegel nominated both files for speedy deletion with reason "This is a photo of a painting by a living artist, with no indication that the artist (or any other copyright holder) has released the rights under a free license. See W:en:Daniel Adel for more details about the artist. The image is currently used on that page." Artist's permission for such images is needed. I calculated possibility, that you are the artist, but I considered it unlikely. If you are really Daniel Adel, please send OTRS-permission, show filenames of deleted files and they will be restored. 4) 8 марта вышло поздравление с Медународным женским Днём. Там было достаточно интересное изображение march8day.
Из текста, на странице описания картинки, становится ясно, что самый первый оригинал находится здесь.
Отсюда возникает вопрос: "Можно ли загрузить на Викисклад картинку march8day?" А уже потом её отредактировать, что бы вышло нечто подобное, только в svg формате. Если можно залить вышеуказанную картинку, то какую следует указать лицензию?

Я внимательно прочитал лицензию freepik.com и мне кажется, что эта лицензия не совсем свободная. Например, часть "Вам запрещено" запрещает положить файл для даунлоуд – но все файлы в Викискладе могут быть записанными в других компютерах. I see you've mentioned that you suspect copyright violation, But as I've already mentioned I am new to wikipedia, but I hold the permissions to use the images from the author, and can share the same with wikipedia.

Also, You've stated that you feel this is a promotion campaign of a politician, but it is not, just wanted to add the necessary information about the activities, works and contributions, as per wikipedia, there is nothing like positive and negative, all I am doing is adding the true information about the person in his page. If that is not acceptable by wikipedia, then tell me how can one add information about the events and activities on wikipedia ?
