Cropped image versions

Hello!

Please do not crop images by yourself if you do not have the adequate software to this optimally. Just use User:Cropbot, our bot that does the best cropped versions. This bot is easy to handle and it produces best quality. Thanks for your support! Regards, High Contrast (talk) 00:53, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

  • You have chosen {{PD-Flag-Germany}}, but also You are sign as the author of the file. Could you give any source of German Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts (corporation governed by public law) in official works that could provide that license? Also you have change some opinion here. So are you an author of the file or not? Is it only your oppinion that this file should be marked with license {{PD-Flag-Germany}}? Thank You for answer. Cheers. JDavid (talk) 16:36, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Jeśli masz jakiekolwiek inne problemy ...--Botaurus (talk) 21:01, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Do you speak English or Polish? Do you understand English? Do I have to speak German? (Muss ich deutsch sprechen?) You have stated that author of files: File:Landesflagge Vorpommern.png and File:Flag of Westernpommerania.png is the Landtag of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern or other Körperschaft. Please give the Law Act that makes those flags as symbols of a German Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts (corporation governed by public law). This could provide the license {{PD-Flag-Germany}}. Thank You. JDavid (talk) 22:28, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi JDavid, I started a discussion in de:Portal_Diskussion:Mecklenburg-Vorpommern#mögliche_Löschung_von_File:Landesflagge_Vorpommern.png_auf_Commons. In [1] you can read at point 3, that the additional use of the traditional colours and flags is allowed in both parts (Mecklenburg and Vorpommern) of the state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Is that what you are looking for? Greets, Niteshift (talk) 22:51, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Beschreibung Niobe

Sie habe das Historische Originalbeschreibung von Niobe redigert: +Schonerbark. Is that what you meant to do, or should you add the info in {{De}}, after the {{BArch-description}} template:

Deutsch: Segelschulschiff "Niobe", als Schonerbark geriggt.

(Excuse my German, seems it is not quite useful.) --LPfi (talk) 12:24, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

You mean barquentine (Schonerbark) or {{BArch-description}} template? --Botaurus (talk) 15:42, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
The problem was that you edited the original description. The added info is of course welcome, but should be put elsewhere (if not from the original source). I see you moved it in that file description. The ship is rigged as an en:jackass-barque, not an en:barquentine, but the German word Schonerbark may very well cover both rig types (seems so from the de:Schonerbark article). --LPfi (talk) 17:09, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Maybee so. --Botaurus (talk) 17:47, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

SLQ ships

While compiling Commons:State Library of Queensland/Reports/2, I saw that you have uploaded some images of ships from the State Library of Queensland, and corrected some subjects.[2] I have started a special batch of uploads so that you don't need to upload them. Commons_talk:State_Library_of_Queensland#ships_batch --John Vandenberg (chat) 14:00, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Your pictures have a bad name with StateLibQld (number) at the beginning and are often wrongly categorized. --Botaurus (talk) 17:55, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
The prefix in the name is so the images can easily be matched with the library asset numbers. Our software can handle the images be renamed, provided the redirect is left behind.
The categorisation comes from Commons:State Library of Queensland/Subjects; see also Category talk:Ships by name. The community has chosen these categories, and they are sometimes they are wrong because the library subject headings are not detailed enough. For buildings, the assumption that the building is in Queensland is nearly always right. Assumptions about ships are less likely to be correct. If you have any ideas on how to make the bot smarter, let me know, or add them to Commons:State Library of Queensland/Todo.

Re: Showing method of attack with boomerang - NMA-13594.jpg

Yes. You uploaded that image (18:43, 26 February 2011) with the name "Showing method of attack with boomerang - NMA-13594.jpg". After that you requested renaming with the following comment: "false name of the pic". So I did it. Regards. mickit 07:29, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

Category:Marquees

Category discussion notification Category:Marquees has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.
In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Drosophila

(See below for an English version)

Sehr geehrte Botaurus,

Douglas Staple

Dear Botarus,

Sorry for my poor German. I'm a Ph.D. student in physics (biophysics) and I would like to use your photo of Drosophila in my thesis: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Drosophila-melanogaster-Nauener-Stadtwald-03-VII-2007-12.jpg

I understand that you have released this photo into the public domain. However, I would like your name so that I can credit the photo to you. I'd also like to verify that this photo belongs to you.

Thank you very much,

Douglas Staple

Thanks for your translations on {{Portrait of/syntax}}, I am just not sure of what you meant with "please check syntax for female de". Otherwise you may want to translation {{Portrait of/labels}} (I have just fixed a syntax error that broke the template)--Zolo (talk) 02:31, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Burgwälle, Turmhügel und du weißt schon :-)

Hallo Botaurus..

Shamrock pictures

Hello. First of all thanks for the massive contributions on 19C shipping, you are finding resources everywhere!! And nice to find the new pictures of Shamrock, but I am positive that both this one and this one are actually white paints, so they must be of Shamrock III (1903, white hull) instead of Shamrock I (1899, green hull). The bow also seems to be straighter and attest that it is indeed Shamrock III. What do you think? signed:Nuttyrave (talk) 10:55, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

You probably right. The curvature of the bow (stem) is another. If it is so, you should rename the images. Then the date is wrong in any case. Can you suggest how they should be called. Maybe you should sort the vessels in their own categories. greetings --Botaurus (talk) 14:25, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Technique list

Danke. Raymond 05:54, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Danke für den Hinweis. Die Doppelung habe ich korrigiert. --Botaurus (talk) 10:27, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Your assistance please...

You trimmed six categories from File:A German pilot boat during Hanse sail 2009 -n.jpg. I uploaded about three dozen images, from flickr, that the flickr uploader took during "hanse sail 2009". I didn't know whether those categories were valid or not, as I don't read German. Do you think it likely they weren't valid on any of those images? I'll trust your judgment, and remove them from the other 35, if you say that is appropriate.

Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 00:32, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Most images were a little bit unfortunate classified. Many geographic duplication. And even the Russian sailing replic with Category:Steamships and Category:Schutzstaffel!! here. I have assigned the ships to their ship category. The pilot boat - I think, its every day in Rostock. greetings --Botaurus (talk) 03:10, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

LGBT cat

Botaurus (talk) 17:14, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Stop deleting Category:LGBT people without discussion

If you feel this category should be deleted for real, then you have to discuss with the rest of us before.
