Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

ciao, ho visto che la cartolina dei pozzi di petrolio di montechiaro è già stata pubblicata su internet. per evitare contestazioni ho provveduto a toglirla dalla voce wikipedia in bozza "Rallio di Montechiaro". Cercherò di sostituirla con qualcosa di inedito internet.

Hello Continigio,

I noticed you've uploaded multiple images that differ only in size, and I thought I should draw your attention to a certain feature of our software. MediaWiki, the software which drives Commons and other projects like Wikipedia, is able to handle reducing the size of the images automatically. For example, even though File:Red Apple.jpg is a very large picture (2418 × 2192 pixel), MediaWiki can automatically generate thumbnails in all sizes (example: 50-pixel thumbnail).

You can include a resized thumbnail of any image in a Wikipedia article using [[File:Red Apple.jpg|thumb|Description here]]

For a narrower image – those in upright or portrait aspect ratio – use [[File:Red Apple.jpg|thumb|upright|Description here]]

Thanks to this feature, you only need to upload the highest-resolution image you have available. That's why File:Formella del benvegnu.jpg has been deleted, while your larger image will remain available for use and resizing. I also recommend reading the picture tutorial, you will find answer for nearly all your questions regarding use of images there. Thank you and happy uploading.

ok provvederò a caricare un'altra foto dell'oratorio. Comunque non c'era violazione di copyright in quanto la foto incriminata è sempre mia ma figura già su "rallio.altervista.org" da me realizzato. Continigio (talk) 08:54, 10 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

E allora non comprendi che il problema è anche la scarsa qualità dell'immagine, risoluzione estremamente bassa per i normali ed attuali standard dove uno smartphone scatta foto anche da qualche Mb, e la mancanza di qualsiasi dato Exif. Inoltre se l'immagine è già presente altrove basta che quel sito dov'è presente non abbia un'esplicita dichiarazione che il suo materiale ha una licenza compatibile con quelle qui richieste per considerarlo a tutti gli effetti copyrighted. Mi domando, ma è così impegnativo recarsi davanti a questo oratorio e scattare una foto con tutti i crismi bypassando così il problema?--Threecharlie (talk) 06:29, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ti faccio presente che le foto della chiesa di S. Ilario e dell'Oratorio di S. Giuseppe sono state scattate nei giorni scorsi con il mio telefonino Sony Xperia; mentre quella del Castello a Il Panorama sono state scattate da mia figlia con un Samsung più recente. Non capisco come fai a sospettare una violazione di copyright dandomi poi consigli scontati. Le presunte violazioni di copyright riguardo alla voce Rallio di Montechiaro sono state chiarite in quanto, come ho già scritto, sono stati cancellate le parti sospette che ricalcavano discorsi di altri siti da me realizzati.

Comunque, a parte questo sfogo, sono d'accordo con la tua osservazione relativa alla risoluzione e ho già caricato altre foto della chiesa e dell'oratorio scattate con un telefonino più aggiornato. Cordiali saluti. Continigio (talk) 18:24, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Mi spieghi come fai a caricare un'immagine da soli 53 KB con uno smartphone? E come uno smartphone non riesca a inserire i dati Exif con tanto di geolocalizzazione come fa da anni un qualsiasi smartphone anche di fascia bassa?--Threecharlie (talk) 06:35, 13 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
