Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

File:Integratedfiltersprototype.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

- Can you please explain why you are marking these for deletion, and then allowing other users to delete the images without even responding to my rationales posted on the image talk page? these are prototype pages created for wikimedia foundation research and testing and have no licensing restrictions. please revert these deletions. there will be many future uploads similar to this, and if you can let me know how to avoid these deletions that would be appreciated. Android app testing
editWhere can I help with the improved Android app as advertised in Tech News? --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 23:22, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi User:Donald Trung! Thanks for reaching out. I used the email this user feature to send you an email, please respond there or ping me if you didn't receive it. Look forward to chatting Dchen (WMF) (talk) 19:09, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
Sending the notes about the first survey here for transparency:
"Note 📝, regarding the survey I filled in that my primary device is a Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile phone, but I will still do the tests on the Android phone (which is basically only my camera when it comes to Wikimedia Commons as the physical camera on my Microsoft Lumia phablet is broken), but as the editing experience on that device sucks I mostly use it for uploads as creating categories is even a hassle. Would it be fine if I would create a test account purely for testing purposes like “User:Donald Trung (Alpha)” as I prefer not constantly want to sign in and out as it automatically sighs me out on other devices. Note that I will send this to your Commonswiki talk page for transparency purposes.
Sent 📩 from my Microsoft Lumia 950 XL with Microsoft Windows 10 Mobile 📱."
By the way you can reply here rather than to my e-mail as I prefer to discuss such matters on-wiki, unless you're more comfortable using e-mail. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 07:47, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- My time zone is Central Europe (+1), but I'm not sure if I have much time the next two (2) weeks but I will try to be available, during the weekends I'm most busy and during the weekdays I can't during working hours. My e-mail client (app) keeps crashing when I try to reply, excuse me for answering here. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 08:03, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hey User:Donald Trung! No worries, I will send you an invite for 1/22 at 19:00 your time for now, please let me know if there is another day/time slot that would work better for you. I'll also send you an email with more details. thanks! Dchen (WMF) (talk) 02:32, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
- Do I really need a laptop 💻 / desktop computer 🖥 to help? Because I don't have one, if it's needed I'll have to cancel. I can get stuff like the screen recorder on Google Android, but I don't have access to a laptop outside of the school I teach or using the laptops my friends, and neither would be permitted for testing purposes. Excuse me so much if this was a prerequisite I missed and then wasted your time. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 11:34, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
