Wenn sie in Kategorien einsortiert sind, die irgendwo unter Category:Tyrol (state) liegen, landen sie ganz automatisch dort; das macht ein Bot, nicht der Benutzer, den du hier anschreibst. In dem Fall deshalb:

Doch, du müsstest Magog the Ogre (auf Englisch) mitteilen, welche Unterkategorien der Bot nicht berücksichtigen soll. Das oben erwähnte Bild würde vermutlich unberücksichtigt bleiben, wenn man "Category:Mountains of the Chiemgau Alps in Bavaria" ausschließt. Es blieben natürlich viele andere, gerade über die Gebirgskategorien kommen viele Bilder herein, die nichts aus Tirol zeigen, weil nun einmal Gebirgsgruppen nicht mit der politischen Gliederung übereinstimmen. Solange es keine Probleme mit der Anzahl der Bilder gibt (es gibt ein Limit bei der Darstellung), kann ich aber kein rechtes Problem erkennen. --Luftschiffhafen (talk) 11:25, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Code updates

OgreBot has received a bug fix to avoid oversized galleries. This was necessary per the WMF technical staff.

As a result you may start getting more notices that galleries failed. This is by design. Please prune your galleries if this happens.

Overflow for "Vienna" and "Transport in Austria"

I got some messages from OgreBot relating to the above galleries for 2021-10-09 and 2021-10-10, days on which somebody uploaded a large amount of files into Category:Files from IAEA Flickr stream. It would be possible and possibly reasonable to exclude that category, but it is also not a systemic problem, since that isn't going to happen very frequently. So I do not think anything needs to be changed here, but if the bot maintainer thinks it does, I have no objection to excluding it.

What I wonder about, however, is the messages I got: Due to software limitations, the bot has a hard upper-limit of about 6000 files per day (including overflow galleries), while your gallery had 1638 files. Surely 1638 is significantly less than 6000? The other messages say 4041 and 4079 files, still less than 6000. Apparently the actual upper limit is nowhere near 6000 nowadays? It's 6000 total which it overran because of previous days. The error message is wrong because the logic is complicated and I don't have time to fix it.

Clocks and US politics

{{Edit request}} The overflow on User:Tokfo/Clocks that I was notified about today seems to be the result of the creation of Category:Delegates to the Constitutional Convention (United States), which caused large amounts of US political categories to be clock-related due to things like:

Remove all my galleries

I know that this is not actually the right place to ask this, but can you also delete all the existing OgreBot galleries and overviews in my userspace? I do not think anyone will need them as a historical record, they may just confuse people. Gallery overrun help needed

@Magog the Ogre: I got two talk page notices in each of the last two days that the Daily gallery updater has failed on User:Ww2censor/Recent philatelic uploads and cannot figure out from my categories how suddenly there are 40,000+ files that fall within my chosen categories. I've looked at the logs, as suggested but cannot see any pattern to choose categories for exclusion.

I've carefully looked at the logs and see many files that don't have relationship with my chosen categories and see hardly any stamps of philatelic files at all. Perhaps excluding Category:Letters (written messages) might help as this seems to be the only possible category though it does not seem to hold very many files.

Please help because now that your bot is working again, it would be a pity to have to cease getting the daily gallery. Thanks in advance. Ww2censor (talk) 10:11, 23 July 2022 (UTC)

Exclude "Mehmed II" from User:Donald Trung/OgreBot/Banknotes

On 31st (thirty-first) December, 2022 user "Gargarapalvin" created the page "Category:People illustrated on banknotes of Turkey", this category works the opposite of how Commonswiki categories usually work (which is "Person on banknotes" for specific categories of those banknotes rather than "People illustrated of banknotes"), the person Mehmed II has the neighbourhood of "Fatih" named after him which means that the gallery encompasses basically every image related to the country of Turkey.
