Media categorization edit

Hello Sukkoria,
when you categorize media, it would be nice if you would add a specific category about the subject itself. If just a general category like "postcards", "photographs", "paintings", ... is added the media could end up "orphaned". See your edit at this file: File:"Victoria_Park,_Handsworth"_to_the_west_of_the_railway.jpg. By orphaned I mean listed somewhere in a category not related with the subject and much likely not to be found and sorted in for a very long time (for years). However it is better when the image is listed in some category rather than being uncategorized. But an uncategorized image is also specially marked as Commons maintenance content, which means it gets picked up sooner or later and is sorted in. This maintenance tag is removed when just one category is added, so it would be nice to add a specific category first. If you don't know the location or can't identify an object, there is also a category for: Category:Unidentified locations or Category:Unidentified subjects. Adding such a category makes sure that the file is picked up and checked again. Thanks. --Zaccarias (talk) 14:25, 5 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Moving files of a category ? edit

Hello from Stockholm,
We have to merge categories, is there a quick way to do so ?? Yug (talk) 14:15, 15 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Yug: , so you wish to move the files in Category:Wikimania 2019 Hackathon posters to Category:Posters_in_Wikimedia_Hackathon_Prague_2019? They are from Prague and not relevant to what is playing now in Stockholm? Sukkoria (talk) 14:18, 15 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Yug: either way, Cat-a-lot is a cool and useful tool for moving files. Sukkoria (talk) 14:20, 15 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Copy-paste mistake fixed.
Yes, I wish to move from Category:Wikimania 2019 Hackathon posters (Stockholm hackathon) to Category:Posters_in_Wikimedia_Hackathon_Stockholm_2019. Two of us scaned and uploaded the scans to 2 category. If you check the image and history, all are from Stockholm 2019. Yug (talk) 16:02, 15 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
Oh! Thanks, I'am checking out Help:Gadget-Cat-a-lot :o Yug (talk) 16:03, 15 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
It worked !!!!! *0* Thank you Sukkoria !! Yug (talk) 16:21, 15 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Notification about possible deletion edit

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Image corruption detected in File:Armour of Motochika clan - left side.jpg edit

Deutsch | English | +/−

Hello Sukkoria, it appears that the version of File:Armour of Motochika clan - left side.jpg which you uploaded 2020-04-04T15:50:14Z is broken or corrupt. Please review the image and attempt to correct this issue by uploading a new version of the file. TheSandBot will re-review this image again in 7 days. If it is still corrupt at that time, then the file may be nominated for deletion. This is most likely to happen when a substantial portion of the image is corrupt. Thank you,

Cordialement, VIGNERON (talk) 15:32, 3 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Salut @VIGNERON:  !
Bien cordialement, Sukkoria (talk) 07:24, 5 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Migrating licenses edit

Hello Sukkoria, do you know where I could ask for someone to mass migrate the license of 5000 files ? Luilui6666 uploaded her files under CCBYSA. Following a request by HK's computer linguists, she publicly announced her will to share her audio files under dual CCBYSA / CC0. But who could migrate all those files to dual license ? @WikiLucas00: --Yug (talk) 11:50, 7 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello Sukkoria / Wikilucas,
I will assume I was off-topics (you don't have those tools at hand) or you are focus on other project.
I will look for alternative help. Wish you a good week ! Yug (talk) 11:31, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hello @Yug: , I don’t have any experience with mass migration nor licenses changes, so I cannot help you on these topics. I hope you find someone or someplace more suited to answer your questions or solve your problems. Have a nice day, Sukkoria (talk) 09:29, 23 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Nègre du Soudan by Charles Cordier - RF 2997 has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!
