Hello,Elisfkc in reference to the file File:9iceMusician.jpg, the picture was NOT gotten from the above source(s), AS STATED IN THE DESCRIPTION DURING UPLOAD, it was gotten from a Creative Commons search ('9ice') on materials I can use on Wikipedia, I ticked the boxes "uses for commercial purposes" and "modify and adapt". The picture had a CC BY 2.0 license, I read on the Creative Commons license page that the content can be used on Wikipedia. The license says:
You are free to: Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.
here's the actually link where the picture was gotten from. Please correct if I am wrong, but I think this sort of materials can be used on Wikipedia. I'm open to more enlightenment, thank you. TheEpistle (talk) 18:22, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
- While you can normally find pictures that way, this one seems like an instance of Flickr washing, where the uploader takes an image from somewhere else and then uploads it as their own image and licenses it however they please, without caring about the original photographer. Elisfkc (talk) 18:31, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
- Alright, thank you Elisfkc for the thoughtful note, I am learning these things, so what is going to happen? Do I delete it or what? By the way, is this copyvio and if it is, how do I delete the picture from my commons and associated pages? Thank you. TheEpistle (talk) 19:08, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
- Done. Was most likely cropped from https://cdn.nollywoodgists.com/image/Y29udGVudC9jb250ZW50LzlpY2MuYm1wfDY2MA==.jpg. TheEpistle, not your fault. Regards, --Achim (talk) 20:14, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
