1915 events edit

Armenian Genocide: Thanks for fixing this. I copied the caption from the gallery that was jammed into the article at the English Wikipedia. I didn't catch that ommision before I inserted the image. Billhpike (talk) 03:15, 1 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I took your talk with a new title to your own talk page, because I have spent a lot of time and energy -including writing articles and giving conferences on- the 1915 events. I am not going to lecture you or anybody else here on anything I may have studied more -or less- than anybody else. Genocide is a legal term and does not apply to the Armenian tragedy. Decisions taken by national, autonomous, regional or whatsoever parliaments are "political" decisions and may be binding for those entities only. Whatever, I will not accept to keep a ref like that on my talk page. Next time I correct you on a similar issue, you may thank me on the concerned file's own talk page, if you wish so. This way your comments may reach all members of the Commons community interested on that file. Please do not think that I avoid talking about anything. I took your TP into my watchlist; you may write anything you wish to speak to me here and I will respond, you don't even have to ping me. If you wish to visit my TP again, please avoid disturbing titles. Everybody has sensitive issues and we have no choice other than respecting. Next time we meet let's choose a less controversial topic... Cheers. --E4024 (talk) 07:16, 1 February 2018 (UTC) P.D. Please don't ask my opinion on the EN:WP's handling of some issues. :)Reply
Thanks for your reply. I'll respect your request that I avoid discussing such issues on your talk page. Billhpike (talk) 18:11, 1 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. File:Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan Paul Luna.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Read this message in your language

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee
