Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.

Zdravím. Pokud nevadí, sem to napíšu česky. Ano, jedná se o sken fotografie, která se nachází v našem rodinném archivu. Autora fotografie však netuším. Jak tedy mám situaci řešit? Pokud jde o porušení autorských práv, velmi se omlouvám a samozřejmě fotografie bude smazána. Platí to samé i například u digitalizovaných kronik, kde jsou fotografie? Ani ty se nesmí použít zde? Dobrý den, kolego. To je právě ta potíž – když člověk autora netuší, neznamená to, že je dílo anonymni a fotka je nepoužitelná, i když je starší 70 let. Samozřejmě nestačí, když není autor uveden na webové stránce, odkud ji někdo vezme (= ukradne). Tedy běžně se zde akceptují pod licencí {{Anonymous-EU}} fotky ze 70 let starých novin, časopisů a knih, kde v době vydání nebyl kredit (ačkoliv redakce tehdy autora obvykle znala, takže aspoň tehdy to skutečně anonymní dílo nebylo). Se soukromými archivy je potíž – pokud jde o cizí fotky, výstřižky apod., jsou bez autorova svolení nepoužitelné; pokud jde o příbuzného (nejlépe o předka, jehož jste dědicem), tak jde použít šablony dědiců, např. {{Cc-by-sa-3.0-heirs}}. Ale při načítání souborů, kde to vypadá, že uploader ani nemá fyzicky předlohu (malý rozměr, zbytek tiskového rastru, prosvítající tisk z druhé strany…) je jen otázka času, kdy někdo soubor smaže nebo navrhne na smazání. Je potřeba si uvědomit, že zde nejde o nějaké „ilustrování wikičlánků“. Commons má být úložiště svobodných souborů pro jakékoliv, i komerční využití. Vydavateli časopisu nebo nakladateli knih pak může zavařit ten, kdo sem umístí fotku, jejíž autor pak bude vymáhat odškodné (a představte si knihu se stovkami fotek). Shánění portrétů zemřelých osobností je samozřejmě těžké. Buď je potřeba najít nějakou fotku od známého fotografa a toho požádat, aby ji uvolnil pod kompatibilní licencí (někteří svolí se zveřejněním v menším rozměru, aby např. omezili komerční využití). Nebo se dá jít přes rodinu – kontaktovat ji a požádat o rodinný snímek, ke kterému mají práva. Další kapitolou jsou občankové fotky, kde jsem viděl dohady, jestli jde o autorsky chráněné dílo, nebo jde o dílo pod threshold of originality, podobně jako fotky z fotobudky. Kroniky, pokud jsou obecní nebo nějaké instituce státní správy, by měly být svobodné, viz {{PD-CzechGov}} – 4. řádek – pamětní knihy obecní (obecní kroniky). Ale opět – pokud bude vlepena cizí fotka, asi na ni bude mít práva někdo jiný… Tož z mých zkušeností asi tolik. Gumruch (talk) 22:24, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
