Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Please do not add inappropriate notes to images

Imagenotes should not represent your own opinion of the image's subject, ask questions about the subject or complain about factual incorrectness of an image. These things should be done on the image's talk page.
In case you want to test how imagenoting work, feel free to do so in your own personal sandbox. For further information about imagenotes, you might find Help:ImageAnnotator an interesting read.XenonX3 (talk) 15:30, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

The pictures I am adding annotations to are my pictures. Please unblock my account. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasonshortes (talk • contribs) 07:39, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
- Uploading self-made photos does not mean total ownership. Advertising is not encouraged in Commons and some projects have totally prohibited it. As this is your first block, I can shorten it, if you explain with your own words, why you should not add such promotional links to any of photos (including your own uploads). Please add links to appropriate policies in Commons. Taivo (talk) 08:06, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
I hope this is where I am supposed to respond. With respect to Wikipedia Commons I was unaware images could not be sourced, (such as geographical locations) and I am definitely not here to give anybody a headache, or cause problems. I thoughts the reverts were people just being mean to me. That said I would have not reverted the reverts as the first reverts were from somebody from Germany, and I am more into human rights and opposed to methods of operation from that counties people. My response to Taivo, or it appears there are numerous watchers. No I will not add any external links to any picture or whatever from Commons that are not your standard. If you could please point me to a link that explains more of what Taivo referenced ("Please add links to appropriate policies in Commons.") Still with respect to Taivo I am not trying to evade his request: ("As this is your first block, I can shorten it, if you explain with your own words, why you should not add such promotional links to any of photos (including your own uploads)." I respectfully can not explain in my own words anything, or why I think; as you are the bosses, and that is that, so I do wish to comply with your standards. Again if you could please point me to a section that gives more info on: "("Please add links to appropriate policies in Commons.") — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasonshortes (talk • contribs) 08:37, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

- Not so, you where adding them to other contributors photographs (small list of a long list of examples: [1], [2], [3], [4]). You where informed on your talk page that it wasn't appropriate but you ignored it and you even undid reverts (you clearly should've known there was a reason for it). Also you're linking to websites you operate that are just merely advertising and are not allowed per COM:ANN, COM:ADVERT and WMF's TOU.
- Please explain why you spammed links to pure advertising sites, why did you undo without questioning why two editors reverted your spam edits and why it wasn't just limited to you're own uploads. Bidgee (talk) 10:00, 23 February 2016 (UTC)
