Yours sincerely, CptViraj ( ) 04:31, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Dear CptViraj,
Taipei Red Lions Crest.jpg is the logo of Taipei Red Lions F.C. I made it myself using the rampant lions image from "Red Lion Clip Art" at Clker website as base, which is in the public domain and free to use; the circles, words and numbers were drawn by myself. I have informed the user EugeneZelenko about this situation. I also sent an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. what else should I do? I really wish to be allow to upload our team crest and mascot to wikipedia without having more troubles.
Thank you

Dear Nat,
大鴻.jpg is mascot of Taipei Red Lions F.C. I edited it myself using "China Lion Dance Cartoon - New Year Chinese Lion" from clipartmax website as base, that image is in the public domain, free to use. I have informed the user EugeneZelenko about this situation. I also sent an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. what else should I do? I really wish to be allow to upload our team crest and mascot to wikipedia without having more troubles.

- The clipart licence is "personal use". It is, therefore, explicitly not in public domain and not freely licenced. Furthermore, you are not the copyright holder, as 大鴻.jpg is a derivative of the clipart. --Ìch heiss Nat ùn ìch redd e wenig Elsässisch!Talk to me in EN, FR, PL, GSW-FR(ALS). 06:43, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
- As EugeneZelenko stated, "you need to upload logos locally on English Wikipedia, not Commons." Which means, when you use the upload wizard on English Wikipedia, do not claim that This is a free work. Please select "This is a copyrighted, non-free work, but I believe it is Fair Use." and provide justifications. However, both images are problematic from a copyright standpoint as they are derivative works and neither you nor the team hold the copyright of these images. Regards, --Ìch heiss Nat ùn ìch redd e wenig Elsässisch!Talk to me in EN, FR, PL, GSW-FR(ALS). 07:02, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
The China Lion Dance Cartoon image says in the website "You can download China Lion Dance Cartoon - New Year Chinese Lion png clip art for free. It's high quality and easy to use." this website encourage the use of their images to create new art, as it is the case of 大鴻, that's why I believe there is no copyrights violation.
The rampant lion in Taipei Red Lions Crest was downloaded from Clker website, an online sharing service where users share public domain photos and derive vector cliparts from those photos, thus I believe there is no copyrights violation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MaoTaiwan (talk • contribs) 07:30, 11 May 2020 (UTC)--MaoTaiwan (talk) 13:50, 11 May 2020 (UTC)MaoTaiwan
