Phebalium

edit

Hello Oronsay,

Thanks for your work on Phebalium in Commons. (Hope you don't mind that I've changed the categories so that they display in alphabetical order.) There is a minor problem with all the images - in the box on the right hand side, the subfamily shown is Amyridoideae (not linked) and in the box at the top it's Toddalioideae (linked) but in Wikipedia it's shown as Rutoideae. Amyridoideae is the family given in Wikidata, but without references. All a bit confusing! Gderrin (talk) 22:11, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Gderrin: If you have a reference for the claim in Wikipedia, could you not amend the Wikidata item? I must confess I'm not a plant person, but learning all the time. I'm just keen to make categories from redlinks and share via Wikidata across all language WPs. In future I will make sure I add the Sort so plants appear in proper order - an oversight on my part previously. Oronsay (talk) 23:27, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
No way am I going to change the Wikidata entry. Also not going to try to sort the problem of Amyridoideae/Toddalioideae/Rutoideae. I think it's of little consequence - a "minor problem". There is a note on the Phebalium Category page that the authorities disagree. But Phebalium is in the family Rutaceae and all agree on that. (Phew!) Thanks again for your work on Phebalium. I generally work thorough a genus in Wikipedia, uploading what images I can take or find, then when all done, add/tidy up the categories in Commons. You saved me the work! Thanks. @Gderrin: No problem re:Wikidata, I totally understand. Please let me know if I trample over anything. I watch the articles found by the User:AlexNewArtBot for Australia and that's how I found your Phebalium series. Keep 'em coming! Oronsay (talk) 07:10, 24 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:Eleanor Manning 1946.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

edit

File:Aah Jeem.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Hi Oronsay, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Woodman Point Regional Reserve

edit

Hi Oronsay, I'm not sure if you know, but the naming of your category, Category:Woodman Point Regional Reserve isn't actually correct. It is actually Woodman Point Regional Park. I will rename the category to reflect this. Calistemon (talk) 06:14, 25 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Calistemon. Thanks for fixing this for me. I had it right in Wikidata. I get confused between parks, reserves and conservation areas and so on. There are so many across Australia that are yet to be added to Wikidata, let alone have Wikipedia articles written.--Oronsay (talk) 06:19, 25 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Don't blame you! There is Woodman Point, there is Woodman Spit and then there is Woodman Point Regional Park, and then there is reserves with in the regional park. This newish WA government website helps with identifying the major ones in the state. Calistemon (talk) 06:54, 25 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Calistemon. It's good to have you helping out with the WA entries. There are many fewer overall this year than last, but it's still a lot of work. Oronsay (talk) 06:57, 25 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
