Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

File:Igwe_Orizu_Of_Nnewi.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Copyright violations
edit
Hello Peter489.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |

You have been blocked for a duration of 3 days
editYou have been blocked from editing Commons for a duration of 3 days for the following reason: Uploading unfree files after warnings.
If you wish to make useful contributions, you may do so after the block expires. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may add {{unblock|(enter your reason here) ~~~~}} below this message explaining clearly why you should be unblocked. See also the block log. What kind of thing is that after my effort
editI am suprise to see you block my pictures. What do you mean that they are not a free pictures. All the pictures I have posted there are my personal pictures . what kind of stupid action is that.
Please note All the pictures I uploaded are my own pictures. I do not understand what he meant that they are copyright violation. Those pictures are pictures I have used over and over again. so why such embarrassment. How did he know they are not mine. After working for 5hrs to help edit constructively to the commons all i will get this ... I feel so frustrated with this act
--Peter489 (talk) 05:04, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
- Nonsense, the images where taken from all over the web and from all pages appearing on Google imagesearch entering the name of this city. They are from various sources and various authors, evidently. I appreciate if you simply say that you not know the rules and that you uploaded the images without any idea what this project is about, but its not acceptable to keep up the wrong authorship claims. That only makes me think that you have uploaded the images in bad faith and in ignorance of our license requirements. --Martin H. (talk) 05:25, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
I can agree with you that I don't know the whole rules guiding common, but I will not allow myself to be intimidated by you . Let me make it clear to you, almost 80% of the pictures I uploaded here are mine or my friends. As you have wrongly mentioned that I got all my pictures through image search in Google, You are wrong. Dont tell me that. Because All the marriage pictures are my relatives too.
You can as well go there and search it yourself in the internet since you claimed that you know exactly where I got them. Go to Google and write the city name and tell me what you find. I am surprise that you are quoting for sure where I got the pictures as if you are the one that posted them there.
For your information, The remaining pictures like the king of that city I uploaded is an image i got from an internet site that gave me permission to reuse it. Partly because I am columnist.
What really baffled me is your quick action to block me, If you claim that I don't know the rules I thought what you should do if you are really an experience editor is to advice me on the need to read the rules than to block me immediately. That is so harsh and does not encourage people to contribute. I had no intention to abuse Common and I was only contributing which you should appreciate.
Maybe because you think you are given the privileged to block people and you are abusing it. This is not the way. You should do your home work before you start blocking people. This is a word of advice for you. --Peter489 (talk) 11:12, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
- The block follows frequent warnings, you not stoped uploding images you not created yourself under the wrong claim that you entirely created them yourself and that you are the copyright holder. To prevent the project from continued copyright violation I gave you a short 3 day time to make yourself familiar with the basic rules. The very, very, very, basich and self-evident rule is, that you have to name the correct author and source and not simply claim authorship on other peoples work. If you are not the copyright holder you provide written evidence of permission that everyone can reuse a photo for every purpose including commercial or money making purposes. See Commons:First steps. See http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nnewi&action=history for some weblinks. --Martin H. (talk) 12:47, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Innoson_Minibus_Nnewi.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Innoson_Minibus_Nnewi.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
