Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.--EugeneZelenko 15:56, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:Mandelbrot_island.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

File:Julia z2+0,25.png
editHi. Thx for your images. I have seen image File:Julia z2+0,25.png. Looks good. After that I've found this image ( fig 7 b). Images look different. What do you think about it ? Regards --Adam majewski (talk) 16:08, 6 April 2011 (UTC)
- c=0.25 is a critical value for the set: a bit less and it is filled, a bit more and it is empty with typical spirals. That fig7 is undoubtably above the value c=0.25.Prokofiev (talk) 16:44, 6 April 2011 (UTC).
- You are right. Can you find this value and make similar image ?--Adam majewski (talk) 13:49, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

File tagging File:3D diffusion-limited aggregation2.jpg
editThis media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:3D diffusion-limited aggregation2.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:3D diffusion-limited aggregation2.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Stop deleting Paul Bourke's images
editPlease stop deleting uploaded images made by Paul Bourke. I have Paul Bourke's written permission to share his images under CC 3.0 share alike license. Thanks. Prokofiev (talk) 09:03, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Could you please submit that written permission to OTRS? Thanks. — Ivan Shmakov (d ▞ c) 18:24, 21 March 2014 (UTC)

editHello Prokofiev, You mention in your file Phi_glito.png that the curve can be constructed by an L-system, however, you don't mention specifically what the L-system would be. Could you please clarify? I am investigating fractals built by L-system as specified by this website 42f87d89.github.io/Projects/Lsys.html Regards
Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Prokofiev. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Prokofiev~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

Questions about the program used in fractals. // Вопросы о программе, используемой в фракталов.
editVery good graphics yours, congratulations. Which program you are using to generate these fractals? I'm looking for a program that accepts the formulas of classical form: z = z ^ 2 + c, as an example. I found many applications that generate transformations (flames), but few accept formulas. Any suggestions please? Thank you.
— Preceding unsigned comment added by Luizrobertomeier (talk • contribs) 18:21, 27 July 2016 (UTC)

Higher resolution quaternion / quaternion à plus haute résolution
editHello,
I saw your quaternion files. I would like to use them for my wallpaper, but the resolution is too low. You give the value of c, but I can't make a new image with only the c value.
Can you say what else you did to make the images, or make a higher resolution image? An SVG would be perfect.
Thank you!
---
Bonjour,
Merci! XA1dUXvugi (talk) 20:29, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
