Hello, S.Steudle76571!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

File:Wohn_Ludwigsfeldegrey.jpg edit

File:Wohn_Ludwigsfeldegrey.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

We are still waiting for you to follow up on COM:OTRS for this and other images. If it doesn't happen soon, someone will probably delete them. You've already had over a month. - Jmabel ! talk 15:55, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Incomprehensible source edit

The source data you gave for File:Indu amerika rebuild-plant.jpg and similar images is incomprehensible. It looks like a URL, but the initial "Q:" makes no sense in this context. - Jmabel ! talk 15:52, 3 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Still waiting for a written notice edit

Hello, I told the rights-owner (Christoph Kohlbecker) to answer my mail (I used the standard text I found on the liscence pages on wikipedia). He told me that I should tell you that he is totally agreeable to use all the photographs, which show the work of his father Karl Kohlbecker. C. Kohlbecker is 75, and so he isn't that versant with computers, so he told me an oral accreditation must be enough and he offers the wiki-adminitrators could ask himself in case I am still trying to get the mail-version of the lisence via his secretary.S.Steudle76571 (talk) 07:09, 4 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I'll personally continue to hold off on that basis, but I can't guarantee what some other admin might do. I don't think a phone number will do much for Wikimedia Foundation's OTRS system. I suggest that if they won't do this via computer, they can send you a paper letter, you can photograph that and send a JPEG of the letter to commons-permissions (per COM:OTRS). - Jmabel ! talk 03:51, 5 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I pointed out again that a written notice is urgently required. I'll get it probably already this week, then I'll send the scan to the administrators. The permission is written in German language, so I'll add an English translation if needed. S.Steudle76571 (talk) 10:07, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I believe German is fine. See Commons:OTRS/de. -Jmabel ! talk 17:20, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Success! Allowance notification sent to permissions-commons-de edit

I could get the secretary to send a written notice to the permission-commons-de, with the signature of Christoph Kohlbecker. The pictures all show his father's work. S.Steudle76571 (talk) 14:40, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

This media was probably deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Wiki_chk_hdm_amst_air2.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Wiki_chk_hdm_amst_air2.jpg) and the above demanded information in your request.
