You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Pay attention to licensing

Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content: images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. File:Brandon Brown Homestead 2019.jpg seems to be free (or it would be proposed for deletion), but it was identified as having a wrong license. Usually, it is because a public domain image is tagged with a free license, or because the stated source or other information is not sufficient to prove the selected tag is correct. Please verify that you applied the correct license tag for this file. If you believe this file has the correct license, please explain why on the file discussion page.

My deepest apologies. I miscaptioned the photo when I uploaded it to Commons. All of Zach Catanzareti's files from 2019 were used with a cc-by-2.0 license, and I had that picture from 2018 under that folder on my computer. Catanzareti has those older files under a cc-by-sa-2.0 license. Hopefully, it does not happen again. -TaurusEmerald

Please give images better names

I noticed you've uploaded File:2013-10-13-IMG 0393 (16298542172).jpg and I thought I should draw your attention to a common error. Please give uploaded files meaningful names. Otherwise they are difficult to track and it is hard to tell what the file is about without actually looking at it. I suggest you rename your image with an intuitive name that describes the file itself. Thanks, and happy editing!

CropTool

In the future, I would appreciate it if you used CropTool to crop images. This tool allows users to crop images already on Commons without having to download the images. It also makes sure that, if necessary, the file has already passed license review. It also properly links the images to one another, in case an issue with them comes up later. You have uploaded using COM:F2C without adding any category. This will cause difficulty to users who want to search images using certain categories. Please add back the category when you upload images. Please do not overwrite files

I noticed that you uploaded a file using the name File:Robert McCollum (21939864163) (cropped).jpg. A file by this name already existed on Commons. Overwriting an existing file should not be done except when making minor, uncontroversial corrections, so the file has been restored to its previous version. Overwriting of pictures

Hello, could you please stop cropping off huge parts of pictures and overwriting? Upload it under a different file please Binho24 (talk) 07:03, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

Cropped images are normally uploaded as a separate file with the same name but adding to the end "(cropped)". One of my images that was cropped started as File:Brian Vickers Road America 2013.jpg and the cropped version is File:Brian Vickers Road America 2013 (cropped).jpg. Please consider new file names carefully when uploading crops.

Hi. When you upload crops of only a single person from a photograph previously containing two or more people (e.g. as you did here, here, here, and here, etc.) please consider the new file name with care: it is often misleading and inaccurate to keep old names that mention people no longer in the cropped photograph. Please consider modifying file names to be more representative of what is displayed. There is no rule that says you must keep the old name when you upload a crop of a new file. Indeed, the Crop Tool, which you have often used, states "Update the filename below if no longer descriptive." Having extraneous proper nouns in file names (or descriptions) means more false positives when searching for text strings. Furthermore, it is completely acceptable, and even preferable, to give meaningless/ambiguous files new, more descriptive names upon cropping (e.g. File:20180502-OSEC-LSC-0393 (27988167388) (cropped).jpg could have easily been renamed File:Sonny Perdue May 2, 2018 (27988167388).jpg). There is also no rule that crops must have the word "cropped" in the title: this may or may not be appropriate depending on the initial file name and the content of the cropped image. It may also be a good idea to modify the description and/or categories after cropping, to again ensure the data predominantly corresponds to what is in the file. Erroneous transfers from Flickr

Can you please stop transferring my files on Flickr to Commons via Flickr2Commons. These files are originals on Commons which were copied to Flickr, so not only is it a waste of time but also lowers file quality and removes the valuable descriptions and categories. categorisation

Hi. When you are creating new categories, it would be appreciated if you could also take the next step of doing some categorisation, and also looking to see if you can cannot the categories at Wikidata.

For example, Category:Mark Rolston is connected at Wikidata like d:special:diff/2029834380, and I have added {{Wikidata infobox}} (these two do some good magic) and a couple of categories through the use of the HotCat gadget. Thanks.  — billinghurst sDrewth 20:31, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
