Hello, Tpa2067!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

ça me dit :

You can now log in to any wiki site of the Wikimedia Foundation without creating a new account.

Amicalement, Pruneautalk 15:44, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

File:Oxazine.gif edit

Hi Tpa2067. Can you please upload this image in PNG or SVG format? Thanks. --Leyo 09:33, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Done in .png --tpa2067 (Allô...) 10:07, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

I also tagged other images uploaded by you:

Can you re-upload them in appropriate file formats please? --Leyo 09:55, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

You could made them your-self by saving the .gif or .jpg images on your computer, translate them in .png with Photoshop or ACDsee and upload the .png images in Commons with the option : It is a derivative work of a file from Commons. Good look this is malagasy cigarettes !  I mean Good luck!--tpa2067 (Allô...) 10:07, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Well it's   Done :
The method you describe is exactly what should not be done, because the quality of the PNG file that is converted from the JPG image is still bad. Instead, the original drawing should be saved/exported as PNG or SVG.
I created an SVG version of File:281px-Substitutionducarbone.gif/File:281px-Substitutionducarbone.png as the source image is also in this file format. For File:Spiro-2.2-pentane.gif, I drawed two versions in SVG format. --Leyo 12:03, 1 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry, but File:C4H4Oisomer.png still has a bad quality (because you converted it from the JPG). Just have a close-up look around the letters. With which program did you create that image. You will need to save/export directly to PNG from there. --Leyo 20:03, 4 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

No, if it has a bad quality, it's because it's too little (1.12 MB). I want to improve it but the .png file I obtain is too big and too long to upload from Madagascar where I live (Wimax ADSL but it's slow!). Otherwise, I see around the letters, It's good by me! I create the file with Adobe Illustrator.10 which can save .svg or .png but often I work the file (saved in .ai) again with Photoshop in particular for improve the colors and put margins more large. I don't have chemical software and , you know, I don't need it! because with no one, it will easier to work such files as File:C4H4Oisomer.png, in particulare for distribute the molecules on the page space and align them horizontally and vertically. --tpa2067 (Allô...) 04:32, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
OK, a slow internet connection is a reason I wasn't thinking about. I thought you might be able to save the image directly from Photoshop again and getting a better version quickly. However, as the image looks good in the article (i.e. not in full size), it's OK. Do you agree to delete the images that have been replaced by better versions: File:Oxazine.gif, File:C4H4Oisomer.jpg, File:281px-Substitutionducarbone.gif, File:281px-Substitutionducarbone.png, File:PolyspiroC49.GIF and File:Spiro-2.2-pentane.gif?
If you use l´ Assistant de transfert sur Commons, you do not have to download and upload the (full size) image again. Just tick the option “Directly upload file”. I think this would be an easier way with a slow internet connection. --Leyo 07:58, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Delete (no problem for me):

For File:Spiro(2.2)pentane.svg, I have replaced it in the article I konw it contains this image (w:fr:Composé bicyclique) but as the commons page of File:Spiro-2.2-pentane.gif don't never say if there are pages that link to it, I don't know if there are still pages that link to this file!! idem for File:PolyspiroC49.GIF and the other soon delete files !
But, Leyo ! you speak french !!
Merci ! --tpa2067 (Allô...) 11:27, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Oui, je parle français. However, for these technical (computer related) things, it's much easier for me to write in English.
I deleted the images above (I never wanted to delete File:PolyspiroC49.png, of course). To find out, if an image is used on any other project, just click on “utilisations” (if you use French user interface) on the top.
Merci beaucoup. --Leyo 12:01, 5 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Parfait!

--Leyo 11:36, 6 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Commons:Picture requests/Requests/Nature edit

Hi Tpa2067. I do not understand why you removed several items. The presence of a gallery page does not mean that there are (good) images. Take Pelodytes ibericus as an example. --Leyo 18:07, 24 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I remove items for which the image has been created. --tpa2067 (Allô...) 18:19, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Where is the image in my example? --Leyo 07:27, 25 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
:-) --Leyo 13:04, 25 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Done very strange indeed , I put the right licence when I have created yhis file. Anyway, there is no problem because I have created the both images File:C4H4isomer.svg and File:C4H4isomer.gif. --tpa2067 (Allô...) 07:21, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
