Please give images good descriptions
edit
I noticed you've uploaded one or more images and I thought I should turn your attention to a common error.
Please give some thought to writing a good description of uploaded images. This ensures that they can be used in more than one way. It also helps those that review and improve categories do a better job, which also ensures that images will get used in novel and interesting ways. Thanks, and happy editing! About Image:LocationKosovo.svg
editWhy you edit the map Image:LocationKosovo.svg , evidencing the Serbia? The map is for the location of Kosovo in the World, not Serbia. Regards. --Eagleal 17:30, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- I don't understand yet why you want to highlight Serbia. I told you: The map is for the position/location of Kosovo in the World, not Kosovo and Serbia. --Eagleal 19:20, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yes but, you have highlighted too much Serbia. As you had done, it seems that Kosovo is Serbia. In the first version, Serbia was yes highlighted and separated from other countries, but Kosovo have more contrast, to evidence the location of that region in Europe. And the border between Kosovo and Serbia you can dash it, if you want. The map was OK before, except the border. --Eagleal 20:10, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- However, I had never contributed to the article, except for the image. I created it (from an old version), because there were some controversies between some Serbs and Kosovians. In order to clear any doubt, I'm from Albania. Regards. --Eagleal 20:55, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
edit
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:41, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Your statue in QIC, your message
editHello Mikhajlo Angelkovitch.
First, I'm sorry for my bad english, I hope we will understand us together.
Then, I would like to say that I like your photos, and especially the last one, discussed here.
I understand that the pedestal of the statue (maybe a bit dark...) is not a cuboïd.
IMO, the problem concerns the church in background, really distorted. The walls are leaning a lot, even if the church is not a cube. Can you have a grid on your photo or monitor ? You may see what I mean. It is very visible at the door. Have a look to the street lamp left too: I hope than in Serbia street furnitures are more straight ! In a lot of cases, you will see that perspective correction is a requirement in QIC.
It is easily correctible with a software. I use GIMP, a free software, easily downloadable. Perspective corrections, tilts, color enhancements are easy. I'll download your photo, and try something for you to show you if you want and agree. One can make a lot of other improvements with this software, but I am a relative newbie, and I don't know all about it ! (But one may find several very interesting video tutorials on "Youtube".)
Thanks for your kind message, and for the latin alphabet transcription too. A transcription is good, but a translation should be better !! Who is this holy and venerable priest ?
Best regards from Paris, --Jebulon (talk) 22:23, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure my english is so good: you misunderstood what I wrote, or I was not clear enough, sorry. And I don't know now how to explain my opinion...--Jebulon (talk) 22:54, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
OK my friend. I wait for your call. Thanks.--Jebulon (talk) 23:06, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi Михајло Анђелковић,
did all 3 people visible in File:Wikimedian Meetup Belgrade 28.11.2010 - 1.jpg (and your other uploads from that event) agree to be identified in the image description? --Túrelio (talk) 11:16, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
Please, define 'identified' more clearly. I used their Wiki nicknames that are also used here. They are all well recognized members of Wikimedia Serbia. Is there any reason why you ask for this particular image and not for dozens of otheres I've uploaded? 巡 Mihajlo [ talk ]
- You associate a persons face to his/her username. With that information, people who know them in the real world, can easily associate the real person to a Wikimedia user account. This should only be done after prior consent by the depicted. In case these people haven't themselves disclosed their account's identity by putting their own face or their real name on their userpage, this may even violate the privacy policy of the WMF. As an admin I'm active in checking recent uploads/edits and the above mentioned image was the first that caught my eyes. But this problem concerns all similar images, of course. --Túrelio (talk) 11:29, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- I am not on this particular image, but I am on other images from the same category. In general, when meetings are photographed, they participants know that these photographs will appear on the Internet. There is sr:Википедија:Уживо page that documents the meetups, the images are published there, and it is fairly well visited. In particular, I agree that I am identified in all the images in this category. Nikola (talk) 11:45, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
From photographers at Wikimedia-meetings in Germany I've heard that 1) they ask in advance (in general, at the start of the meeting) whether someone objects to be photographed, and 2) they promise to remove any image to which a depicted objects. In addition, they usually don't identify the depicted in the description, except Jimbo, speakers and other notable/well-known people, of course. But that's only how they do it; that's not a policy, as to my knowledge. --Túrelio (talk) 11:52, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- I agree to be identified in images uploaded on Commons. -- Obradovic Goran (talk) 11:58, 1 December 2010 (UTC) (Обрадовић Горан)
- This is insane, and this is not the first time that people have had problems with our wiki meetups photos. Give it a rest, will you? And, for the record, I am in most of the photos that Mihajlo takes and I certainly agree to be identified. --Filip (§) 12:06, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for being called insane for protecting other users privacy. --Túrelio (talk) 13:19, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- I did not call you insane. I don't think you're insane. I think that this tirade is useless and that you could put your efforts in some more useful stuff. Also, I don't think it's in your remit to protect users' privacies. ;) --Filip (§) 15:45, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
