Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. Już wiem co miałeś na myśli. Natomiast ciężko mi powiedzieć, bo pamiętam jak przeglądałem tę książkę, że autor nie opisał dokładnie, który to Jasiński, a który kolega. Gdyby to zrobił, na pewno bym to podał w opisie. Przy okazji w bibliotece zerknę jeszcze raz do tej książki i może da się coś wywnioskować (np. może JJ jest tam na innej fotografii i będzie można go porównać z tą). Pzdr. @Lukasz2 Z góry dziękuję. Jeżeli nie sprawi Ci to kłopotu to, mógłbyś uwiecznić grób Stanisława Olczaka (1899-1962) na Powązkach Wojskowych (kwatera A29, rząd 7, grób 19). To żołnierz Legionów Polskich, oficer WP i więzień KL Auschwitz. Nie jeszcze biogramu na Wiki, ale foto byłaby dla mnie inspiracją do napisania krótkiego tekstu. Pozdrawiam. Ciężko tak z pamięci. Patrzę na kategorię "Pochowani na Powązkach-Cmentarzu Wojskowym w Warszawie" i ciężko wyłapać, w którym biogramie jest foto grobu, a w którym jej nie ma.
