If the admins here regard this as copyvio, then pls speedy delete it, but pls explain why you think the official police declaration https://twitter.com/OrlandoPolice/status/742018880256790528 "Media/public: You have permission to use any photos/video/periscope video, etc. posted by OPD on this Twitter feed or any of our channels." is not sufficient. Thx. --SI 16:43, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
@LFaraone, Rama, Tbhotch: I am really interested in having this question answered; why doesn't Template:PD-FLGov (or similar) apply here? [1] [2] --SI 17:42, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
Hello, and thank for the question. I appreciate your being such a good sport about these deletions.
The crux of the matter is that the statement of the police is vague. It is good enough to establish good faith for somebody who would use the image on a blog or something similar; but it is not a formal statement of licence. They do not mention a licence, nor that the image is public domain, and they do not specify what the permission to use covers. We are not entilted to interpret this statement and put a cc-zero on the images, hence my deletion.
On the other hand, I was not aware of Template:PD-FLGov and the policy that underlines it. This one very much seems to apply in this case, so I am restoring the images and correcting the template.
Cheers! Rama (talk) 18:38, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Free Soil PartyEdit

The Free Soil Party certainly had a strong overall anti-slavery tendency, but it wasn't fully abolitionist, or abolitionist in the strict sense. That was part of why it had a stronger political base than the Liberty Party, but also why some abolitionists looked down on it... AnonMoos (talk) 15:38, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for fixing my mistake, I should've read the article more deeply - a good one. --SI 13:02, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

Presidents who were elected despite losing the popular voteEdit

Hi, I like your bar graph:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Electoral_college_win_popular_vote_lost_US_Presidents.png

However, I was wondering if you could please generate an additional graph that also shows the results of the 1824 election. According to the Wikipedia article about that election, Adams won 30.9% and Jackson won 41.4%. "The popular vote figures exclude Delaware, Georgia, Louisiana, New York, South Carolina, and Vermont. In all of these states, the Electors were chosen by the state legislatures rather than by popular vote." The cited source is Leip, David. "1824 Presidential Election Results". Dave Leip's Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections. Retrieved July 26, 2005. Cheers.Anythingyouwant (talk) 09:38, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

@Anythingyouwant: sorry for being a bit late, we discussed this already at: File talk:Electoral college win popular vote lost US Presidents.png. OK? --SI 19:49, 7 April 2017 (UTC) p.s. Please see also File:United States Presidents popular vote losers.png --SI 06:20, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
